Architecture Our building on Fifth Avenue and 103rd Street was built in 1926 and designed by the architectural firm of York and Sawyer. The exterior and interior design is in the early Romanesque style, unusual for its time since most buildings of that era were in classical design. The exterior of the building is limestone and sandstone. The lobby floor is made of Levanto marble with mosaic borders and bronze inserts and the walls are Mankato marble with stone finish. The lobby ceiling is made of heavy
paper textured to resemble wood grain, specifically designed for the institution.
