Conference Center & Event Space Offering over 20,000 square feet of event and conference space in a historic Fifth Avenue building on Museum Mile, the Academy facilities include a dedicated conference floor, a 583 fixed seat theatre style auditorium, a wood paneled board room, a magnificent Library Reading Room overlooking Central Park, and several multipurpose function rooms. Conferences, meetings, receptions, retreats, symposiums, workshops and weddings can range from 20 to 500+ persons for your event(s). The Academy also offers event planning services that include pre-event consultation, audio-visual services and on-site event management. Our exclusive caterer, Sterling Affair, one of New York’s foremost catering companies, will see to all of your catering needs. We are also pleased to offer reduced rates for non-profit organizations and government entities. An incredible event starts with a fantastic team and we are here to make yours a memorable one. Architecture Our building on Fifth Avenue and 103rd Street was built in 1926 and designed by the architectural firm of York and Sawyer. The exterior and interior design is in the early Romanesque style, unusual for its time since most buildings of that era were in classical design. The exterior of the building is limestone and sandstone. The lobby floor is made of Levanto marble with mosaic borders and bronze inserts and the walls are Mankato marble with stone finish. The lobby ceiling is made of heavy

paper textured to resemble wood grain, specifically designed for the institution.

We also offer wireless capabilities throughout the building. Audio - Visual Services Tailored audio-visual and media services include projection and audio equipment, dedicated high-speed internet connectivity, along with professional technical assistance. Catering Services Sterling Affair is one of the New York metropolitan area’s foremost catering companies and the exclusive caterer to The New York Academy of Medicine. Sterling Affair will work with you on choosing the best menu for your event as well as assisting with design and dÊcor, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Presidents Gallery A beautiful multi-function room with audio - visual and media accommodations, the Presidents Gallery provides an ambiance that is both elegant and traditional. At 1,700 square feet it is the perfect setting for a smaller meeting, breakout room, luncheon, reception, or dinner as well as film/television shoots.

Hosack Hall An elegant 583-seat, two-tiered auditorium complete with a stage and audio - visual/media capabilities. A grand marble staircase and elevators provide easy access to the 2nd floor balcony. Hosack Hall, with 5,400 square feet, is ideal for conferences, lectures, video-conferencing, graduations, concerts, movie screenings, film/ television shoots and more.

Room 20 A large, bright room ideal for a conference, seminar, lecture, luncheon or dinner, Room 20 boasts 2,600 square feet offering the flexibility for theatre, classroom, banquet rounds, or hollow square table arrangements. With fixed screens and permanent risers, the room offers the optimum flexible meeting and event space. Room 20 can be divided to create two smaller breakout rooms.

Library Reading Room This dramatic Reading Room is adorned with painted soaring ceilings, grand bronze chandeliers, and massive arched windows boasting tranquil views of Central Park. The Library Reading Room offers 3,000 square feet of space and is adaptable for a variety of events such as conferences, lectures, luncheons, dinners, formal receptions, weddings, galas, and film/television shoots.

Room 440 Room 440 is ideal for the larger conference, meeting, seminar, workshop, or breakout with 1,700 square feet. It is fully equipped with a projection screen and stage providing optimum media accommodations.

The Periodicals Room The elegant Periodicals Room with its painted soaring ceilings, grand bronze chandeliers, and massive arched windows overlooking Fifth Avenue and Central Park is often used in conjunction with the Library Reading Room. At 920 square feet, it is perfect for small intimate dinners, cocktail receptions, luncheons, and meetings. It is also the setting for film and television shoots.

Room 21 With 990 square feet, Room 21 is an excellent space for smaller meetings, workshops, breakouts, and vendor display areas.

The Council Room 558 A comfortable, wood-paneled boardroom ideal for private executive, board, or committee meetings, smaller luncheons, dinners, and staff retreats, The Council Room, at 840 square feet, possesses a stately atmosphere with permanent board tables and chairs, and is often used for television and movie shoots.

The Hartwell Room A stately boardroom lined with vintage books is ideal for private executive, board or committee meetings, The Hartwell Room, with 610 square feet of space and permanent board table and chairs, is a wonderful backdrop to intimate luncheons and dinners as well as television and film shoots.
