Plant a tree for your mum this Mother’s Day WOMEN IN SUPER
This year Trees for Mum Woodend has partnered with the Mother’s Day Classic and will hand-out free trees for people to plant in their own gardens. There will be 300 available. Trees for Mum is a series of Australiawide tree planting events run by Landcare on Mother’s Day. The project was first started in Sydney in 2002 by friends and colleagues, Deena Raphael and Lauren Adlam, as a way of paying tribute to their Mums, who they had both lost to cancer. their own very special story, just like the Mother’s Day Classic. The trees will be a range of natives including banksias and callistemon (bottle brush) from locally sourced seed but are suitable for a wide range of climates and garden sizes. If you’d like to reserve a tree to collect after your run/walk just email treesformumwoodend@gmail.com. Trees will be available from 9am on Sunday 10 May from the Landcare tent at the Woodend Children’s Park, Nicholson Street.
