tion by its Committee on Finance, headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, which investigated the alleged unremitted $49.8 billion from
oil sale proceeds by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the removal of fuel subsidy. It also ordered the oil
corporation to refund to the Federation Account $218.069 million being the share of the federation from third party financing
agreement it did not remit. The Senate, while adopting the report of the committee, upheld its recommendation that NNPC

he Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Kenneth Mininah, has ordered the court-martial of over 18 soldiers deployed in Borno State to prosecute the counter-insurgency war, for mutiny and other “administrative operational offences.” The errant soldiers, according to military sources, were involved in an attempted mutiny against the former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Maj.
