igeria may lag behind other countries in Africa and the Middle East in the growth of mobile money due to the country’s existing regulation
that puts the service in the hands of banks rather than mobile network operators. This is because the global trade body of mobile networks, GSM Association, has commenced

fter over three weeks of protests on Abuja streets to demand the release of over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Chibok, Borno State, demonstrators made an attempt yesterday to take the campaign
to the doorsteps of President Goodluck Jonathan. However, the police stopped the march on Aso Rock, the seat of power and confined the protesters, led by a former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, to the Federal Secretariat, where they were received by a delegation from the
Federal Government. The protest for the rescue of the schoolgirls, who were kidnapped over a month ago, coincided with a nationwide protest by teachers, who shunned schools to draw attention to the toll the insurgency has taken on them. According to the Ni-
geria Union of Teachers (NUT), about 171 teachers have been killed in Borno State by Boko Haram in the last few years. The terrorist sect has also continued with its reign of terror in the state with the killing of 29 people in Chukungduoa, a border village in Gamboru Ngala Local
