he National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (NAMA) yesterday rallied
support for the new auto policy, which came into force this year and criticised multinational auto makers, accusing them of working against the new
auto policy whose effective implementation began this year. It described them as “enemies of Nigerian economy and harbingers
of doom who wish themselves well at the detriment of the growth of Nigeria for the benefit of all.” The association, in a statement by its Executive Director, Arthur Madueke, described the new auto pol-
icy as the best to happen to the economy. It also warned Nigerians not to be deceived by the claims of the foreign auto makers that the policy would lead to an astronomical rise in the

he National Conference yesterday rejected the proposal for an elected president to serve a single term of six years. Delegates at the conference voted overwhelmingly for the present system where the president and governors serve four years and could have another four years, if re-elected. They however resolved that the presidency should henceforth rotate between the North and South. other setback yesterday as a Yola High Court, presided by the state’s acting Chief Judge, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, affirmed jurisdiction in the case.
Justice Mammadi dismissed an application filed by the lawmakers over its jurisdiction to entertain a case filed by Nyako who had earlier obtained an in-
terlocutory injunction to quash the impeachment proceedings. While ruling on the lawmakers’ application on whether the court has
