ormer President Olusegun Obasanjo had a list of oil thieves in the country but used his executive powers to protect them during his eight-year tenure while both expatriates and naval officers were neck-deep in oil theft. These allegations were made yesterday by ex-governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyesiegha to members of the National Conference Committee on Public Finance when officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) appeared before the committee.

gale of protests swept through the four states of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti and Edo yesterday paralyzing activities in
many parts of their state capitals. The protesters were mainly electricity workers angered by what they vari-
ously described as breach of agreement by new owners of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), exploitation
