Energy savings for the user simple thinking in action handbook Status: v1.0 – February 2021.

Thinking about using the principle of immediate action and effectiveness We are focusing on one of the main areas of green action, a significant reduction in the amount of energy used. The production and extraction of energy sources cannot be significantly influenced by users. This also applies to energy prices. The main goal and focus of thinking is therefore to reduce energy consumption on the consumer and user side - it is essentially up to the user. Therefore, as many consumers and users as possible should be encouraged to reduce their energy consumption.

These incentives play the primary role: • Savings in their own wallet.

• Funds, forms and possibilities to support use of energy reduction projects (EU-calls, loans, applications, tax reimbursements, energyefficiency Commitment Scheme financing, etc.).

It is important to mention that the reduction in energy consumption also has additional positive effects, i.e. there will be less energy loss in the transport and production of energy. Also, with declining energy consumption, there is, of course, smaller new investment in power generation and local production.

Declining consumption is also having a positive effect on protecting the Earth (limiting global warming). Both the user and the producer side are environmentally friendly because of: • Reduction of waste heat output - avoidance of unnecessary heating of the environment.

• CO2 emissions are reduced.

• Reduction of particulate emissions (soot, aerosol, etc.).

Savings on the user side With traditional (but very important) savings opportunities, the savings solutions need to be implemented in large volumes and in a significant number using standard methods, such as: • Thermal insulation and the replacement of heating, cooling and household equipment by devices that operate economically.

• Replacement of doors and windows.

• In the case of an industrial environment, the recovery of heat lost.

Implementing new savings opportunities.

• This is based on identifying the energy points and then connecting the energy points - that is, creating an energy based and information based automated system.

• Examples of energy points are: gas boiler, chiller, air conditioner, heat pump, building, facility, compressor, paint booth etc.

• This method provides to a significant extent a solution to the energy reduction goals of industrial companies.

An essential overview of the energy connection methods, which are already known: • Heat transfer via liquid - the central part of which is the heat pump system.

• Connection of frequency converter drives.

• Installation of electricity storage modules (ESM); central to this is battery power storage • This method can be used to connect, for example, a solar power generation system and a vehicle charging device.

• The connection of gas and electricity will be soon included.

Linked to the new approach is the on-site storage of heat. We produce when energy is available and then store the amount produced. Heat storage, for example, in concrete floors and thermoactivated slabs is worthwhile to use. The most comfortable feeling and the lowest energy consumption is provided by the tempered mass (near constant temperature).

Last, but not least, comes the till now underestimated part, operation of the facility with constantly incoming invoices. This is when the concept of a database, i.e. BIG DATA, comes into the picture, because the application of smart algorithms can explore further possibilities for intervention and savings.

Concept

An important issue for implementation, in addition to a high quality and a well-routined, good operation, is whether an energy monitoring system is established to continuously control energy consumption.

THINKING (Preparation of planning)

The main steps of the design are: • system plan, • then conceptual plan; • construction plan.

Reality simplification + thoughts from team leaders

When starting a new project, you must first decide the important points that exist in the real world, because the main secret of development is that it can only be built on reality. This is followed by the process of creating key ideas, which also includes articulating expectations for the outcome. Its form can be, for example, a concept plan or a study plan.

Once the main ideas have been set up and the concept has been created, the specification of the new system will be compiled - this will be the basis for the design and the cost of the investment can at that time be determined with an accuracy of about 10 percent, already.

To build the system, we recommend the use of a five-level pyramid model. Let’s start from the bottom and then step up.

Connected energy system We identify energy points by nature, size, and spatial as well as topological location.

We create a technical system that performs energetically, informationally, and financially efficient energy operations.

Automation We build an automation system that: • Controls the operating status of energy points (e.g. heat pump).

• Controls and regulates the optimal operation of the heating centre.

• Sets the optimal thermal condition of the facility per zone, per sections, per room.

• Generates the internal operating data of the system (e.g. changes in temperature).

Energy monitoring It is used to obtain relevant, measurable data on the energy consumption of the facility and the energy points within it. In the case of financed energy solutions (for example: ESCO), the goal is to determine the usage and savings values.

Data and database management It is necessary to manage, store, display, utilize and transmit data and information in many ways.

This requires management of large volume type databases and data sets, i.e. BIG DATA. Examples of data utilization: • 3D spatial information set based on the application and operation of the maxwhere. com information space.

Automation cabinet

Under extreme temperature conditions, the connected energy system allows the available energy to be reallocated - for example, in extreme cold, it is possible to increase the heating while reducing the air exchange as much as possible.

Ensuring fast and remote access to information for example for system monitoring or to monitor and evaluate the economics of operation.

One of the basic issues of energy financing is to have reliable data on consumption and savings available to the financier at all times.

Remote access to the information allows the energy service provider and maintenance to perform remote intervention - for example for optimization and / or to set the emergency operating state in the event of a failure.

The information can be made available, for example, to a resource management company or a security company.

Establishing a database connection - for example in BIG DATA or an ERP program (for example: SAP).

Creating BIG DATA and building a data connection to it is valuable if you want to perform further optimization using smart algorithms.
