LEN Roberts has been a familiar face in Tea Gardens and surrounding areas for over 30 years.

From his work on local Councils to establishing the Tea Gardens’ Baptist Church, founding the Myall Coast Archaeology Services and his work in Aboriginal land claims, Len has given back to the community in many ways.

After the Earthquake in Newcastle, Len’s office in Wickham couldn’t be accessed, and so he was transferred to Tea Gardens’ Public School for one term.

Mrs Jackson was a very wellliked member of the community and was the ladies’ golf president at Hawks Nest Golf Club from 2014 to 2016.

Ms Cassel was alerted to the damage by her father, who had visited the reserve on Sunday morning.

“Dad sent me a photo of Mum’s seat this morning (2 May),” she said.

“I thought it had happened overnight, but someone else told me that it’s been like that for a couple of weeks.”

Police appealing for assistance to locate man last seen in Tea Gardens POLICE are appealing for assistance to locate Allan Bentley, aged 63, who was last seen about 12pm on Monday 26 April 2021 in the Tea Gardens area.

He was reported missing to officers from Port Stephens Hunter Police District, who commenced an investigation into his whereabouts.

Police are concerned for his welfare after he failed to attend pre-arranged

appointments and his regular game of lawn bowls on Saturday 1 May 2021, at a bowling club on Old Maitland Road at Hexham, which is out of character.

Allan is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 179cm tall, of medium build with short brown and grey hair and a beard.

Galleries In The Gardens latest exhibitions

GALLERIES in the Gardens are back with two new exhibitions displayed at The Gallery in Tea Gardens, ‘Fabulous!’ and ‘Mothers’.

News Of The Area’s Tara Campbell went along to the Gallery to check it out!

Councillor Len Roberts’ long history in the area.

He began by starting Myall Coast Internet, helping locals get online in Tea Gardens.

Cnr Roberts studied a degree in Archaeology at Macquarie University and had the chance to study and visit Egypt and Israel.

He started Myall Coast Archaeology Services, to give back to the local area and has since been involved in many projects including the fish farm, the gas pipe that runs from Queensland to New South Wales, and the new Huntlee estate.

“The greatest achievement I’ve had is just being able to help people,

particularly with the little things,” said Len. While serving on Council some of his achievements have included The Peter Sinclair Gardens Extension, obtaining the land for the Men’s shed, having ANZAC Park set aside for the RSL, obtaining free camping at Bulahdelah for grey nomads, the recreation reserve for North Arm Cove, and the Myall River Clean Up. One of his most notable accomplishments was the formation of the Southern Area Reference Group, which brings together a group of key people from Bulahdelah, North Arm Cove, Pindimar, Winda Woppa, Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest.

“Whilst I’m there as Chairperson, it’s not my group.

“It’s the area’s group and the beauty of that is that it helps the area get more of a voice in the Council, whilst connecting with others who are in the same boat,” said Len. Councillor Len Roberts is currently deciding whether to run again for the Council and will make a final decision in June.

Clients often resist when advised to have an Enduring Power of Attorney put in place. I am often met with the response "I will arrange a Power of Attorney when I need one". However, often when the Enduring Power of Attorney is needed, the client no longer has the capacity to make an Enduring Power of Attorney.

None of us have the ability to predict the future.

However, Mullane & Lindsay often receive calls from concerned relatives enquiring as to whether we hold an Enduring Power of Attorney for a spouse, parent, aunt and so on. The message is that everyone should have an Enduring Power of Attorney.

As each person becomes older, then it becomes more important.

It can happen that a young person is in a situation where a Power of Attorney can assist if an unforeseen event occurs.

It goes without saying that

the attorney appointed must be a person trusted (without reservation) by the appointor.

The attorney must act in the best interests of the appointor and unless the Enduring Power of Attorney provides for it, cannot benefit himself or herself. If the appointor has children and trusts one and not the other, then he or she must resist the temptation to appoint both children as attorneys simply because the child who is not trusted may be offended.

The child who is not trusted should not be appointed. If the appointment of one child over another is likely to cause ongoing difficulties within the family, then a third party should be appointed as the attorney. The third party must be trusted by the appointor without reservation.

Everyone should have an Enduring Power of Attorney.

The Gallery has been decorated with picturesque canvases of irises and tulips to unique depictions of mothers all completed by spectacular artists from the area.

The ‘Fabulous!’ exhibition is bright, colourful and filled with depictions of flora, perfectly accented by a range of mother artworks each telling their own story.

The stories behind each artwork ranged from paintings inspired by the

mother figures in their life to the mothering nature of animals, no two artworks were alike.

Scattered across The Gallery were paintings, glass artworks, scarves, sculptures, jewellery and photographs, all tied together with floral arrangements and greenery.

One visitor to The Gallery said, “I was immediately taken aback by the beauty of the exhibitions.

“I’ve been to exhibitions before, but this was my

favourite.”

Notable comments were made about the impressive display of flowers amongst the large collaborative canvases as part of the ‘Fabulous’ exhibition.

The exhibitions will run until Monday 10 May 2021, with The Gallery being open from 10AM every day except Tuesday.

THE North Arm Cove Rate Payers Association have unveiled the North Arm Cove initiative, a revisitation of the plans of Marion Mahony and Walter Burley Griffin for the North Arm Cove paper subdivisions.

The association includes land owners in North Arm Cove who are part of the current paper subdivision land status, a term deemed by the NSW Government Department of Planning & Environment as, “Land containing lots that only have recognition on paper and, in most cases, have no formed roads, drainage, reticulated water, sewer or electricity.”

Lands in these paper subdivisions have a variety of owners, including investors who have purchased lots as an investment with the hope that one day they may be zoned to enable development to occur.

There are many generations of land owners in North Arm Cove, many who have passed away, never seeing the chance to develop on their lots.

The North Arm Cove Rate Payers pay 5% of the total Mid

Coast Council rates, yet are unable to inhabit their lots for more than two days at a time without Council approval.

In a statement on the MidCoast Council’s website it is stated, “Land in paper subdivisions that are located within an existing rural or environmental zone will be considered as part of the MidCoast Rural Strategy.

“This land represents only one component of what is a complex rural environment; and given these areas are already recognised as having significant constraints by the NSW State Government and Council, rezoning these areas for urban purposes is highly unlikely.

“Community consultation on the draft Rural Strategy is expected to occur in 2021.”

The North Arm Cove initiative is about enhancing the area, delivering a “sustainable, resilient, equitable, affordable, smart, and vibrant community in North Arm Cove.”

The association is only in its early days, but has already seen support from the Walter Burley Griffin Society, Henry Halloran Trust (University of Sydney) and various land owners.

North Arm Cove has a significant history, and was once

Cop celebrates 35 years on the beat

AS a country cop through and though, Senior Constable Trevor McLeod has seen it all.

He previously served the communities of Adelong, Henty, Tocumwal, Bungedore, Pallamallawa and Pilliga.

Now stationed in Bulahdelah, the adventures in police work hasn't stopped.

Senior Constable McLeod, along with his colleague Ash Ray, recently shaved his head to raise money for the World’s Greatest Shave and raised an impressive $5000 for leukaemia research.

The duo also helped out at Bulahdelah Central School,

lending a hand with the School to Work Go-Getters program in June last year.

To celebrate 35 years in the job, Senior Constable McLeod was visited by top brass Assistant Commissioner Max Mitchell, as well as current and retired officers from the Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command who previously worked with him.

Together they enjoyed cake and coffee to celebrate Senior Constable McLeod’s achievement.

Bulahdelah resident Angela Lewis wanted to give a big shout out to the officer for his compassionate handling of a recent difficult situation.

Vandals in North Arm Cove

LAND owners in parts of North Arm Cove are unable to build on their land but many still visit to check up on their land and make sure everything is okay.

Recently, many land owners have been targeted by trespassers and vandals.

One owner took to a local community group to inform others in the area.

“Yesterday my husband and I visited our land, we were so happy to drive all the way to see our land again as we had missed out on the Easter break.

“When we arrived at the land we found out that our land had been vandalised.

“They (vandals) drove over the land with heavy vehicles, they left broken bottles all over, cut trees and caused damage to other trees.”

Other locals reported that a big bonfire had also been made.

The land owner encouraged fellow owners to visit their land more often, and put up signs of private property.

One commenter wrote, “I will have to go and check mine again soon.

“Last time something similar happened, but not quite as bad.

“There was lots of rubbish dumped on my place and deep tyre tracks.”

New Service For Suicide Survivors AfterCare individuals

THE stresses of COVID-19 have played their part in increasing depression rates within the community, and suicide is an issue we all need to be abreast of.

To help combat this and assist survivors of suicide attempts, Lifeline has launched the AfterCare programme to provide postsuicide attempt support.

The programme aims to

improve the care received by people after a suicide attempt.

This is key to reducing suicide attempts and suicide deaths, as a suicide attempt is one of the most significant risk factors for further suicidal behaviour.

Lifeline, supported by the Hunter New England Primary Health Network, is launching a new service, called AfterCare.

Co-designed with local communities, AfterCare has been developed to provide quality, professional support to individuals post-suicide attempt.

MIDCOAST Council’s flood waste kerbside collection is coming to an end and affected members of the community will need to have all flood waste placed on the kerb by Sunday 9 May to take advantage of the free service.

The free kerbside collection has been running non-stop since the floods and Council contractors will be undertaking a final sweep of the region’s flood affected areas from Monday 10 May, after which time the free kerbside collection will finish.

“It is important that anyone who still has flood waste in their homes or yards moves it to the kerbside by Sunday 9 May to take advantage of this free collection service, as it will cease after this time,” Council’s Director of Liveable Communities, Paul De Szell, explained.

Mr De Szell added that Council is aware that there are still a number of community members who

“We are not turning our back on any members of our community who need assistance – this is simply an end to the kerbside collection.”

Those who need assistance are required to register for the help they require by phoning Council’s flood recovery hotline on 1300 545 040.

Council has collected more than 45,000 tonnes of flood waste in the six weeks the free kerbside collection has been running – almost double the yearly red bin waste for the entire region.

“While we are moving into a recovery phase, we will still be working on a case by case basis with those who need us, we remain committed to this clean-up process.”

Sewer network upgrade CONCEPT planning will begin soon for a project that will ensure Tea Gardens’ sewer network can continue to meet the growing needs of the community.

The project includes a proposal to construct a rising main from Tea Gardens to the Hawks Nest Sewage Treatment Plant, which is also set for a major overhaul.

A new transfer pump station will also be constructed to redirect sewage from the existing network into the new main.

“We know the sewer network in Tea Gardens is

reaching capacity in terms of the volume of sewage it can pump and treat.

“With considerable residential development expected to occur in the area, the population is only going to increase,” said Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott.

“This project will ensure the sewer network can cater for the community as it grows and also reduce the risk of any issues occurring, such as sewer overflows during wet weather events.”

Tenders have been

called for the concept design phase of the project, with a successful consultant expected to be appointed in May. Mr Scott said an important part of the concept design would be establishing the best route for the rising main.

“At the moment there are several routes we’re looking at, with the option to either run the main under the Myall River or across the Singing Bridge, like the existing main,” he said.

“The preferred route will be selected based on a range of factors, including stakeholder

THE Mid Coast region is an area with rich biodiversity.

Sadly there are species in the region that need action to survive.

The fauna species that Council has identified for priority action in the Draft Roadmap For Managing Our Natural Environment includes, threatened shorebirds (little tern, pied oystercatcher), our squirrel glider population at Forster the yellow-bellied gliders at Smiths Lake, the Manning River helmeted turtle, giant dragonfly, the greycrowned babbler population at Gloucester the koala and the long-nosed potoroo.

There are also three flora species identified the Manning threatened eucalypts (narrowleaved red gum and slaty red gum), Guthrie’s grevillea, and the Threatened terrestrial orchids (Wingham doubletail, Tuncurry midge orchid).

“Some species are poorly understood and we would look to partner with others to undertake surveys and investigate the species status, population trends and recovery needs.

Ms Henry helped draft the ALA’s submission to the inquiry - one of 700 the inquiry has received.

“Lawyers, journalists and health staff play a vital role in exposing systemic problems in health care but it is up to governments to act to prevent unnecessary deaths.

“It is one thing to have an inquiry but we need action afterwards – not another report that gathers dust.

“We need a properly funded, data based, strategy to improve rural and regional healthcare – and the Hunter is a vital part of that strategy.”

First Aid Awareness DO you know what to do if someone has a heart attack?

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of death in Australia.

Every year, around 25,000 people experience a Sudden Cardiac Arrest out of hospital, with a current survival rate of 5%.

St John Ambulance NSW is promoting the importance of defibrillators in the hope that one day, every workplace in Australia will be equipped with the lifesaving device.

This week there is an awareness campaign promoting safety in the workplace.

If a defibrillator is used within the first 2-3 minutes of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest,

the chance of survival increases to 70%.

St John Ambulance NSW advocates for defibrillators to be considered a critical item in every workplace, and encourages people to ensure their defibrillators are in working order.

Sadly, Australian workers have not yet realised the importance of having a defibrillator in the workplace with a recent survey from St John Ambulance Australia uncovered some shocking statistics, with only 8% of Australians deemed a defibrillator the most important item to have in the workplace; paper and pens climbed higher on the list.

More alarming is that one third of Australians don’t know what a Sudden Cardiac Arrest is and 78%

of Australians don’t think people under 45 years old can experience a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

61% of Australians claim their office either doesn’t have a defibrillator or they don’t know where it’s kept, and a further 58% of Australians say they wouldn’t feel confident using a defibrillator, with reasons being that they haven’t had training in first aid (54%), they find it too complicated to use (24%) and they worry they might hurt the person (22%).

Sarah Lance, CEO of St John Ambulance NSW said, “We know that quick bystander intervention can improve cardiac arrest survival rates.

“Defibrillators should be considered a necessity in

any workplace so that in the event of an emergency staff can act quickly and with confidence.

“Defibrillators are simple and designed so that anyone can use them – even if you never have before.

“The key is for them to be accessible, checked regularly, and used when needed,” she said.

First Aid training is easily accessible and is mandatory for some professions.

“While plenty is already being done, it can be more effective if Council, community groups, landowners and individuals are all working to a consistent set of objectives, under an agreed ‘blue print’.”

The draft framework acknowledges the importance of Aboriginal custodianship and culture knowledge through practices such as cultural burning, and addresses community priorities such as supporting private land conservation, wildlife corridor strategies, education and awareness, building resilience and nature-based recreation.

It will complement a suite of other plans including the Climate Change Policy, Rural

and Greening Strategies, and Catchment and Estuary plans.

Input on the draft framework can be provided by taking a short on-line poll, completing a longer survey or making a submission, before the feedback period closes on Tuesday 8 June 2021.

“Providing value for money to our ratepayers underpins our approach when developing the annual operational plan and budget,” Mr Panuccio said.

The draft document sets out the details of the rates harmonisation process MidCoast Council will be undertaking from 1 July 2021.

This process, which is a requirement of the State Government for merged Councils, standardises rates across the three former local government areas and needs to be in place for the 2021-22 financial year.

“We have worked hard to ensure this is as equitable as possible for our community and have been able to develop a structure that means 80% of property owners will either have no change, or experience less than $50 a year increase, with reductions for some.”

This year also sees a

continuation of harmonising other fees and charges across the MidCoast region, including waste collection and water charges which have remained static in recent years.

While variations apply, the general increase in fees and charges sits at approximately two per cent, in line with the 20212022 rate peg set by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) – an indicator of changing costs in the delivery of council services.

In its ‘business-as-usual’ budget, MidCoast Council allows for income from continuing operations of $283 million, exceeding the projected operating expenditure of $277 million.

“More than just focusing on the year ahead, our challenge has always been looking after our infrastructure into the future; we will continue to work

with elected councillors to balance this with meeting our community’s needs,” Mr Panuccio said.

Council’s draft operational plan and budget on exhibition A DRAFT plan outlining projects and services to be delivered across the MidCoast during 2021-22, along with MidCoast Council’s draft annual operating budget, is now open for feedback until Friday 28 May, 2021.

Operational plans are prepared each year as part of Council’s commitment to implementing the four year Delivery Program. Both are part of a suite of planning documents developed to achieve the objectives identified as priorities for the local community in the Community Strategic Plan, ‘MidCoast 2030: Shared Vision, Shared Responsibility’.

“This year marks the final operational plan within the delivery program for our current councillors, with a continued focus on providing services to our community in a way that adds value and builds trust,” said Adrian Panuccio, MidCoast Council’s General Manager.

“While we remain committed to delivering against our original four-year program, this year’s draft plan has added context as our community undertakes the long journey of recovery from the impact of recent bushfires and floods.”

Along with an outline of the projects and services to be delivered over the next 12 months, the draft plan provides a detailed budget breakdown to guide their delivery, and importantly performance measures that will be used to report on Council’s progress.

Focusing on improving the roads that connect our communities has been a consistent theme over recent years.

The truth comes out – and so will season three – in due time.

The Brits are old pros when it comes to concocting playful panel shows, but Taskmaster takes the cake for utter frivolity and pointlessness; and that’s what makes it a must-watch 60 minutes. Presenters Greg Davies (pictured) and Alex Horne come up with inane, laugh-out-loud, often disgusting and extremely creative challenges for the five comedians game enough to jump aboard the series for a wacky and unpredictable adventure. Tonight, in “Lotta Soup”, Jessica Knappett’s cheerful attitude is rigorously tested by a former traffic warden. Rhod Gilbert endangers Alex’s life again, and Phil Wang has a great time with some squeezable mayonnaise.

I make a point to never come between partners!!! The shares v property debate is decades old and is one without a definitive answer. Both have pros and cons, with many variables to consider. Property is a tangible asset.

While ‘flippers’ abound, property tends to be viewed as a long-term investment.

Even though the market may ebb and flow, property generally tends to rise in value and if we’re talking about residential property here, everyone needs a home, so the demand is consistent. Consequently, it represents far less risk.

We’ve seen how the market has thrived over the past year and it shows no sign of stalling.

Shares are generally viewed through the short to medium-term lens, where ‘timing the market’ is essential. Of course there are significant gains to be made, but the stockmarket is far more volatile and when there’s a plunge, the speed and depth can be alarming – and costly. I’m not here to provide you with direction, merely add to your conversation.

Perhaps you are in a position to invest in both. If not, then informed discussion with your financial advisor should give you clear direction.

I RECKON there are two distinct types of parenting with the exception of some parents who are floaters and some who have not yet worked out what their parenting style is. Did you ever watch that episode of The Brady Bunch when Alice's Special Operations Commander sister came to stay and treated the kids as though they were Navy Seals instead of delicate blended-family siblings? Well, some parents are like that. Everything is efficient and organised. The children make their bed so neatly you can bounce a coin on it, and they have little checklists on the fridge and maybe some good behaviour stickers because who doesn't get gratification from a coloured piece of paper in the shape of an apple after spending two hours cleaning the windows?

The other side of the coin is the laissezfaire style of parenting where everyone has a choice. These parents let their kids resolve their own issues, rarely stepping in, but unfortunately creating narcissists verging on psychopaths who end up as self-described entrepreneurs flogging multi-level-marketing products when they're not too busy having epiphanies or activating others so they can relinquish their hard-earned cash on ice baths and/ or chakra cleansing.

Now, I feel you are definitely in the Alice's Twin Sister category, and who could blame you? If you have baked the cake, why would you let your sweet and sticky minions take to it with colourclashing smarties, marbled icing and plastic unicorn candles? I bet you had a vision, Georgina, that possibly included some handcrafted Blue Mockingbird Eggs, baby blue ganache, and a nest made of spun toffee, all of it balanced on the choc-dipped perfection of a montane forest tree branch that you had flown in from Mexico.

Next time make the cake and decorate it in sweet isolation, away from prying eyes and pesky fingers.

Tea Gardens Men’s Bowling Club News

28 APRIL It is with regret that the Club has recorded the passing of former member Brian Emmett last Sunday night.

Members stood in silence for Brian and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

A good attendance of 53 bowlers today for the usual Wednesday Nominated Triples competition.

The winners on 26 points were John Parkinson, Andrew Smith and Jason Pictazele.

The Lucky Losers on 21 points were John Carey, Paul Carter and Gary Porter.

The Garden Eatery voucher was won by Dennis Wilberforce, lucky man!

1 May Round 8 of the Newcastle District Pennants competition was played today with mixed results.

Grade 4, playing away at Lemon Tree Passage recorded another convincing win to maintain their unbeaten record thus far.

They lost one match but won the points 9-1 and the master board 73-51.

Grade 5 played

competition leaders, Fingal Bay at home and were unsuccessful losing 0-10 and 40-71.

It’s been a dismal season for Grade 5 but there is still time to salvage some pride with a win.

Grade 6 also played at home and have a reputation for not winning there.

They managed that feat again losing to Karuah in a disappointing effort 1-9 and 51-63.

The feature of the round must be the mighty Grade 7 side who played away at Fingal Bay. I wish I had the space to provide a blow-by-blow description of the game, as given to me, but suffice it to state that it went down

visitors.

A couple of demonstration games were played – which might have bemused more than educated at this early stage! – but most were not deterred.

As a result, lessons will be starting in early May at the Clubhouse on Thursday afternoons led by Leslie, an experienced Bridge teacher.

After six lessons, with practice hands to play, plus another six supervised transition sessions, the Club is looking forward to welcoming a new intake of members later in the year who will hopefully come to enjoy this challenging game at our friendly and social Club sessions.

Hawks Nest Bridge Club hosts a ‘Meet the Club’ Social

EVERY autumn, the Hawks Nest Bridge Club, under the leadership of President Leslie Falla, runs a series of lessons for those wanting to learn bridge.

Last year, lessons were a little disrupted by the Covid pandemic but Leslie and his group of mentors soldiered on with the help of Zoom technology.

As a result, there are several new members now playing regularly at the Club – for some, it can be quite a big step from the anonymity of playing on the internet to sitting face to face at the bridge tables!

After the restrictions on playing last year, it was decided the Club would hold a social event for locals interested in finding out more about this stimulating game.

About twenty people plus members turned up at the Clubhouse on Monday 26 April for drinks and nibbles and a chat about the game of bridge.

Geoffrey Muggleton and Dennis Ashbridge had a convincing win over Vic Garlick and Doug Andrews, 28-6 and in the remaining game Ron Green and Jeff Baker went down in another thriller to Neil Kibble and Ron Webster.

The semi-final, when played, will see Fitzalan and Ross play Smith and Dorahy and Muggleton and Ashbridge will take on Kibble and Webster.

Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club TUESDAY 27 April: Social bowls played a game of Fours, a game of Triples and a game of Pairs.

By the 6th end things weren't looking much better, they were still losing, now by 7 shots 10 v 3.

Fortunately the "tides were about to turn", Karen's team remained on 10 for the next 5 ends while Pat's ladies gained 7 shots.

MidCoast Council will be carrying out a range of herbicide spraying activities in various waterways, open drains, and retention ponds; on roadsides and reserves; and on sporting fields, parks, pools surrounds, cemeteries and Council building surrounds within the entire MidCoast Local Government area during the months May, June and July 2021.

These activities will be targeting general vegetation, grasses, reeds, bindii, broadleaf, annual, perennial and environmental weeds and each program is subject to weather conditions. Only qualified operators will be undertaking works.

On the roadsides and reserves, subject to availability and need, registered herbicides Herbicides Weedmaster Duo, Sixgun 360, Biochoice 360, Glymac 360 (360g/L glyphosate), and/or Metsun 600, Lynx WG, Kenmet, Kenzon and/or Grazon extra will be used as per the requirements of the label and APVMA off label permit 9907 where applicable.

In various waterways and retention ponds Herbicides Weedmaster Duo, Sixgun 360, Biochoice 360 and/or Glymac 360 (360g/L glyphosate) will be used as per the requirements of the label and APVMA off label permit 9907 where applicable and as a precaution residents are advised to refrain from using, drinking or swimming in the water for two weeks following treatments.

Registered herbicides, chemicals Spearhead, Kamba M and Broadside will be used as per label directions on sporting fields, parks, pools surrounds, cemeteries, reserves and Council building surrounds.

Scheduled areas will be assessed individually and treated as required. Individual areas will be sign-posted at the times of treatment in commonly accessed areas. A list of areas to be treated is available by calling MidCoast Council on 7955 7777.

Magpies too strong for Roos THE Karuah Roos took on the Raymond Terrace Magpies at Lakeside Sporting Complex on Saturday, in an entertaining game full of passion, hard hits and great runs by both teams.

It was hot on and off the field, and the Magpies scored first to take a 4/0 lead, before Jack Bills crossed the line for the Roos to equal the score at 4 all.

Terrace then scored two more tries to take the score to 14/4.

Jack Bills then crossed the line again for his second try and Sam Croese converted to take the score to 14/10 The Magpies scored another converted try before half time to extend their lead to 20/10.

The second half saw the Magpies convert two more tries to take the score to 32/10.

Half way into the second half Jon-Roy Clarke scored

for the Roos.

Sam Croese converted to take the score to 32/16.

With under 10 minutes to go Adam Crampton scored for the Roos to take the final score to 32/20 to Karuah.

Saturday marked a special milestone for Karuah Roos player Tim Johnson, who played his 100th game for the Club.

Tim was one of the starting team back in 2013 when the Roos came back into the N&H CRL Comp.

He is also a Life Member of KRLFC. He has had his fair share of injuries across that time, breaking his nose a couple of times in action for the Club.

He has certainly bled for the mighty Red and White.
