In response to a number of reports about locals and visitors feeding dingoes, MidCoast Council is renewing its plea for members of the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest communities, as well as visitors to the area, to refrain from feeding/interacting with dingoes.

were deemed dangerous.

Council, together with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services and Hunter Local Land Services, took lethal control to manage the escalating risks to community safety from a pack of sub-adult dingoes that had been involved in a spate of incidents with people and domestic pets.

These dingoes were being given access to human food in and around urban Hawks Nest.

“We believe education is key and we would hate to see the need for control measures to be taken again.

“While these people may think they’re helping the dingoes, they’re actually doing them a great disservice.”

Council follows an adopted dingo management procedure that is a risk management model based on the successful program in place on Fraser Island.

Mat explained that when dingoes are fed by humans they can lose their inherent shyness and fear of people and the territory that they occur in becomes worth aggressively defending.

Sometimes within days, these animals can become highly territorial and exhibit increased aggression to domestic pets and people.

"It's imperative that the community gets behind this important message and please, do not approach, encourage or feed the dingoes.

Council has an online reporting form for members of the public to share information about interactions and incidents with dingoes, while Rangers have commenced issuing penalties to anyone caught ignoring Dingo Smart advice.

“Our Rangers will be following up on reports of residents and visitors feeding dingoes.

“The compliance also focuses on other actions that unreasonably permit dingo access to human food sources, such as where bins haven’t been secured properly and food scraps are easily accessible,” said Mat. "We're continuing to work closely with experts from Taronga Zoo and the University of NSW to increase understanding of the dingoes in our region but we'll need the community to be advocates and lead by example to stop other community members and tourists from feeding and approaching dingoes too.

“Interestingly, a common excuse we hear from people who have been caught feeding the dingoes is that they did it because the dingo looked skinny and malnourished,” added Mat. “Dingoes are naturally very lean animals and they’re also expert hunters, they’re not meant to look like a domestic pet and they are highly capable of looking after themselves.”

Council has begun installing more warning signs around the area and a staged compliance approach is underway which incorporates education, warnings and then enforcement.

A NSW Government Gazette dated 24 July 2021, stated, “I, the Hon. Shelley Hancock MP, Minister for Local Government, in pursuance of section 318C of the Local Government Act 1993 ("the Act"), do hereby revoke the Order made on 26 June 2020 which postponed the election requirements of the Act for all councils in New South Wales to 4 September 2021.

“I hereby appoint 4 December 2021 as the day on which the ordinary elections for all councils in New South Wales are to be held.”

Pre-poll, iVote and postal voting have been expanded to allow greater flexibility and safety for voters during the current COVID-19 situation.

While voting may seem like a chore it does give us the right to choose those who will represent us and hopefully our wishes as a community for the next three years.

Midcoast Council General Manager Adrian Panuccio said Council was

working closely with the NSW Electoral Commission to ensure the delivery of a COVID-Safe election.

“An extensive COVID-Safe plan has been put in place by the NSW Electoral Commission to ensure the election is undertaken in as risk-free a setting as possible,” Mr Panuccio said.

Mr Panuccio said these measures include the requirement of Service NSW QR codes, larger voting venues to accommodate physical distancing, hand sanitiser dispensers and increased cleansing of screens and general areas.

Single use pens will also be handed out for those who forget to bring their own pens.

Meanwhile, registration for candidates is currently open.

Nominations will open on Monday 25 October 2021 and close on Wednesday 3 November 2021.

Every now and then a client will say something along the lines of "I've heard that it is 5% extra of the property per child".

I am not sure where this perception has come from – because such a "rule" does not exist.

In the case of Chan & Chih the Full Court of the Family Court overturned a trial Judge's decision to give the Wife an adjustment of an extra 5% of the property pool, due in part to the ongoing care of the two children of the relationship.

The Full Court said

that the facts of the matter did not support such an adjustment.

The Full Court said "Certainly, the financial responsibilities for the children are a highly relevant factor, but the children were aged 16 and 13 years … and the husband was paying child support as well as providing additional funds."

The adjustment – which in that matter amounted to over $400,000 – was overturned.

Yet, for far too long, plastic has been used for cheap promotions and throw away disposable implements.

Children’s toys are heavy on plastic these days and now, the era of a plastic giveaway at the supermarket checkout to promote loyalty is seemingly coming to an end.

In its Together to Zero commitment Coles has launched a National Sustainability campaign committing to no longer give away plastic collectible toys.

As part of its ambition to be Australia’s most sustainable supermarket, Coles Group is launching a national campaign that brings to life and celebrates its recently launched Sustainability Strategy under the pillars of ‘Together to Zero’ and ‘Better Together’.

Commencing Sunday 25 July, the campaign highlights Coles’ aspiration towards zero waste, zero emissions and zero hunger.

Having recently stopped selling single-use plastic tableware, Coles has also reviewed the sustainability of its marketing campaigns and has today committed to no longer give away plastic collectible toys.

Karuah To Meet Candidates In November

By Marian SAMPSON HOT on the heels of the announcement to change the date of the NSW Council elections, the Meet the Candidates meeting set for August 4 in Karuah has been postponed.

Fred McInerney of the Karuah Progress Association told News Of The Area that he “hopes that the meeting will be rescheduled in November to precede the new NSW Council election date of 4 December 2021”.

Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock said the decision, after extensive consultation with and advice from the NSW Electoral Commission and NSW Health, has been made in response to the COVID-19 situation.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and current Public Health Orders impacting Greater Sydney, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Local Government elections until later this year,” Mrs Hancock said.

“We have taken this step to postpone the election to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities, voters, polling staff and candidates.”

The NSW Government has worked with the Electoral Commission and NSW Health to implement a comprehensive plan to allow voters to cast their ballot safely in person, by post or online. iVote (electronic voting) will also be available for the first time in the local council elections and the NSW Government has implemented changes to pre-poll to ensure that voters have 13 days to cast their ballot, reducing congestion on polling day.

The NSW Government has made available a total of $57 million for the elections in 2021, including $37 million to deliver them in a COVID safe way.

In this election, 5.2 million voters will cast their ballots as around 5,000 candidates vie for 1,200 councillor positions across 125 local councils.

Janet McDonald passes away aged 103 Hawks Nest’s Janet McDonald has passed away aged 103 after a wonderful life.

HAWKS Nest’s Janet McDonald has passed away aged 103 after a wonderful life.

Raised in Dudley, Jan was brought up with a love for the beach and sport, and understood the importance of family, love and respect.

She grew to work as a seamstress, creating a number of beautiful evening gowns and wedding dresses as well as fashioning her own clothes for many years.

It was in one of her selfdesigned evening dresses that she met the love of her life, Cec McDonald, who she wed soon after in 1940.

Two years later, their first daughter Pam was born and four years later, their son Jim was welcomed to the world..

In the early 1960s, Jan and Cec returned to Dudley, and surrounded themselves with family, bowls and lots

of love.

Jan’s favourite pastime was making wedding dresses and loved to volunteer to make dresses for the whole family party.

She was thrilled to create her sister’s wedding dress.

The family eventually moved to their final home in Hawks Nest where Jan and Cec joined the Country Bowling Club, creating lifelong friends.

For 26 years after Cec’s passing, Jan continued to play bowls and remained on the pennants team until she was in her early 90s.

Jan always remained busy and not long after settling into retirement life, she took up china painting and continued to sew and paint, donating several pieces to the Mater Hospital for Breast Cancer charity raffles.

Her family spoke to News Of The Area about Jan.

“She loved to cook and always had some cooking for family and friends who called in for a cuppa.

“We family always enjoyed her apple pies especially,” they said.

In 2017, she moved into the Peter Sinclair Gardens where she settled in well, making friends and having a go at everything that came her way, but most importantly, Jan loved the staff at the Gardens.

Jan’s most memorable visit was the horse ‘Wellington’, which she bravely rode aged 102, making her TV debut.

She is survived by a loving family.

“Mumma, forever in our heart.

“Thank you for inspiring and showing us to be the best person that we can be for when we think of you, words like elegance, beauty and morality come to mind,” Jan’s family said.

Greens launch Council campaign

THE Greens have launched their 2021 campaign for MidCoast Council with leading candidate Dheera Smith addressing plans for the party if elected.

Centred around an idea

“The Greens believe if we don’t plan for climate change, we are planning to fail.

“The first question on every new development application should be ‘How will this impact on the climate?’” Dheera said.

The other Greens ticket members are Sallie Colechin, Denis Duval, Jessica Harris, Helen Holliday and Eleanor Spence, working around three priority issues including caring for the unique natural environment, sustainability

through recycled materials for roads, public transport and sustainable jobs.

“Council environment plans that have no budget are merely paper tigers.

“Surveys are telling the council that ratepayers value the environment and the Council needs to listen to the community and actively protect its valuable natural resources.

“Addressing the issues of habitat, housing, transportation and future jobs will go a long way to making our towns, cities, villages and rural properties comfortable and secure,” Dheera said.

Ms Smith’s other priority for Council is affordable social housing, particularly for school leavers.

“Housing stress is reaching a crisis point in the region’s towns and cities.

“Local councils should be playing a larger part in tackling this issue.

“An audit of council properties where low-cost housing could be provided is needed urgently.

“Redevelopment must prioritise social and affordable housing,” Ms Smith said.

More support for first home buyers

FIRST home buyers and single parents will be eligible to apply for 30,000 additional places under the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme, the New Home Guarantee program, and the Family Home Guarantee from 1 July 2021.

Federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said since the introduction of the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and New Home Guarantee, 30,000 Australians have been able to enter the housing market.

As announced in the 2021-22 Budget, the Government will establish the Family Home Guarantee to support single parents with dependants.

Starting 1 July 2021, 10,000 guarantees will be

made available to eligible single parent families to build a new home or purchase an existing home with a deposit of as little as 2 per cent.

“We’re giving first home buyers and single parents with children the opportunity to enter the housing market and buy their very own home,” Dr Gillespie said.

“With the 30,000 new places available from 1 July, now is the time for potential applicants to contact a participating bank or mortgage provider and get their applications underway.

“The new places will assist Australians in achieving the aspiration of home ownership, providing

security and safety for them and their children.”

30,000 first home buyers have been supported into home ownership through First Home Loan Deposit

Scheme and New Home Guarantee already.

“We know how difficult it can be to buy a new home or re-enter the housing market, and that saving

a deposit is the hardest part of getting into home ownership.

A NSW parliamentary inquiry has been restarted to explore the circumstances of the latest COVID-19 outbreak and its management by the state government – including the handling of restriction and lockdown measures, and how the pandemic will be managed in the future.

In view of the recent outbreak of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in NSW, the Upper House Public Accountability Committee has recommenced

its COVID inquiry, which first began in early 2020.

It will be holding further hearings into the following issues: • The circumstances and the cause of the recent outbreak of COVID-19 • How the quarantine and transport protocols in place prior to the recent outbreak were assessed and set • Lessons learnt from the transportation of Fed Ex

workers • The steps that have now been taken to ensure that such an outbreak cannot happen again, including any changes to state and national health, quarantine or transport protocols since the outbreak • The nature and content of the health advice relating to the imposition of additional restrictions and lockdown, and the timing of such additional restrictions

and lockdown • The future management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on the recommencement of the inquiry, the Chair of the committee, Mr David Shoebridge MLC, observed, "The latest COVID-19 outbreak is a public health and economic crisis. The committee is looking for cooperation from the government to understand the circumstances of the

outbreak and the steps that have been taken to ensure that it does not happen again."

"Whilst the committee is exceedingly mindful of not diverting government efforts and resources from containing and suppressing the outbreak, there remains an important and ongoing role for the Parliament in keeping the government accountable for its actions in response to the recent outbreak. The government

must be scrutinised for decision-making at this critical juncture."

The committee will be seeking the cooperation of the Minister for Health and Medical Research, the Hon Brad Hazzard MP, and the Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant PSM, to appear and give evidence on these important matters before the Legislative Council sits again, currently scheduled for 10 August 2021.

For those in regional areas, vaccination is

considered key and all residents are being asked to get the jab.

ATAGI states, “Maximal protection requires two doses of vaccine, but even a single dose of either vaccine provides substantial protection (by more than 70%) against hospitalisation.

“A single dose of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca partially reduces transmission by around half and therefore may also benefit close contacts and the community.

“It should be noted that there is a delay of 2-3 weeks after receiving a first dose of vaccine and being protected from COVID-19.”

Over 3.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccinations have now been administered in Australia.

Parliamentary inquiry into pandemic management

By Marian SAMPSON THE pandemic has seen Australians isolated, lonely and vulnerable to cyber attacks.

Cybercriminals are targeting Australians at an unprecedented level to steal

sensitive information and money, including through business email compromise and ransomware attacks.

Launching the next stage of the ‘Act Now Stay Secure’ cyber security campaign, Assistant Minister for Defence, the Hon

Andrew Hastie MP, said the consequences of cybercrime can be catastrophic for businesses, families, and individuals.

“In the 12 months to 30 June this year, around 4,600 reports of business email compromise have been made to the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

“Of these, around a third reported financial losses

totalling approximately $81 million,” Assistant Minister Hastie said.

“Email is a very common tool for the delivery of ransomware attacks, with phishing messages sent to potential victims containing malicious links or attachments.

“Compromised email accounts can also be used by cybercriminals to send fraudulent emails to the business’ customers, or steal sensitive information leading to the victim being blackmailed.”

Business email compromise occurs when criminals exploit trust by impersonating employees or companies through email to fraudulently obtain money or goods.

“A business or individual who has their email account compromised or targeted by scammers and cybercriminals could suffer catastrophic financial losses through scams or ransomware.

“There are things everyone can and should be doing to protect themselves

and their email accounts – use complex passwords and multifactor authentication, back up your data and keep a copy off-line, and don’t click on suspicious links.

“As part of the ‘Act Now Stay Secure’ campaign, the Australian Cyber Security Centre has released new email security guides to help prevent email compromise, and advice to help victims recover from an email attack,” Assistant Minister Hastie said.

“There are also easy stepby-step guides on securing your email accounts, to help people protect themselves.”

The Email Prevention and Protection and Emergency Response guides, Step-byStep guides, and other advice and information are available at cyber.gov.au.

A number of different threats use email for their success, including malware, phishing and different types of scams.

Be Wildlife Aware On Our Roads

IT’S clear that wildlife and cars don’t mix.

One only has to look for the often unrecognisable carcasses of what were once kangaroos and possums by the side of the road to see the impact that traffic can wreak on our local native animals.

Wildlife In Need of Care (WINC) volunteer Ryan Ashpole was called out to Myall Street Tea Gardens at 9:30 pm on 19 July to attend to a male kangaroo which appeared to have been hit by a car.

Unfortunately, by the time Mr Ashpole arrived at the scene, the kangaroo had

already died from his injuries.

“As I was looking over him I could not see any visible broken bones or blood from him or from a big hit from a car,” he reported.

“That doesn’t mean he was not hit from [sic] a car.”

“If someone was speeding they would have had to slam on the brakes and I could not see any tyre marks on the road.”

“Again this doesn’t mean that he didn’t get hit from [sic] a car.”

Motorists are urged to look out for wildlife and to be aware when driving at dawn and dusk, as these are times when kangaroos and other wildlife are most active.

If a driver hits a kangaroo or other animal, Mr Ashpole advises to call a wildlife rescue organisation such as WINC and they will be on the scene to help the creature.

“Please do not approach the kangaroo [sic] it will stress them out and they can die easily from stress, and they can still attack even with bones sticking out after a break,” advised Mr Ashpole.

“We have the appropriate equipment and training to assess what needs to be done.”

MIDCOAST Council is currently assessing options for the continued delivery of tourist information services to Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest visitors after the sudden withdrawal of services from the area’s Community Technology Centre last week.

The Community Technology Centre has operated the visitor centre for years as part of an agreement with Council.

Council’s manager of Growth, Economic Development and Tourism, Deb Tuckerman, said the involvement of the CTC over many years was appreciated and

acknowledged.

“We understand the decision of the CTC, it has become increasingly costly for them to run the centre due to both the decreased number of visitors and the loss of the income they did receive from the sale of National Parks passes, which are now sold online,” Ms Tuckerman said.

“We want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the CTC to the centre and the volunteers who have devoted their time to improving outcomes for visitors to the region.”

Council’s destination management team is

now working through the handover with the CTC and considering options for delivering the services moving forward.

“Due to the short notice we are in a position where we need to keep the visitor centre closed, as the equipment that has been used in the centre needs to be returned to the CTC and we need to assess the best way of supporting the tourists who visit Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest into the future.

“Visitation to the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest area is significant and we acknowledge its importance to our region.”

STORY STARTS on BACK COVER, Page 20 Thankfully they managed to “save some face”, losing by eight shots, 21 v 13.

A big win also to Wendy Jones, Karen McPhie and Robyn Webster 18 v Dawn Jones, Judi Polak and Dale Winter 9. The winners on the day winning with the highest score were Dorothy, Jean and Maynie.

What a great game of bowls the Final of the Minor Pairs was, Sheila Rattray and Irene Roberts v Ingrid Luck and Sandra Leisemann.

Fantastic bowling by both teams despite the strong westerly wind blowing.

Ingrid and Sandra were slow starters and by the 5th end they remained

scoreless, meanwhile Sheila and Irene were holding nine points.

On the 6th end they scored their first shot and by the 12th end they were just down by two shots, the 15th end 12 all, just three ends left to be bowled.

Ingrid and Sandra won the next end and hit the front 13 v 12, then on the 17th end Sheila and Irene managed to gain five points taking the lead 17 v 13.

With just one more end to go, Ingrid and Sandra needed five shots to win or four to draw (and then have to play another end), they won the last end, two shots not enough to be the victors.

Congratulations to Sheila and Irene on your win 17 v 15.

By John SLATER TEA Gardens Men’s Bowling Club News 21 July Wild and windy weather greeted this week of bowls.

Players knew it would be bad but the 48 bowlers fronting up for the Wednesday Nominated triples never expected wind like this.

Playing across the wind was almost impossible with bowls played on the correct bias finishing meters away from their intended targets.

The second game in the afternoon was called-off after six ends as conditions

were impossible.

The winners today were decided using a new method, subject to review, but in a draw for one of four options the ‘lowest winning margin was selected’.

The morning winners on one point were John Payne, Peter Cheney and John Slater.

The afternoon winners on a one point countback were Scott Fitzalan, Ross Barry and Danny Johnson The Garden Eatery voucher was won by Mark Nightingale.

24 July

The first round of the Club Championship Triples was played today in cold gale force winds.

The team of Graham Reynolds, Dennis Longman and Stu Dorahy won a close game, 26-23, against Chris May, Mike Dellaca and Leigh Hunt.

Glen Reinhard, Harry Parker and Len Baker fought valiantly in their game but were outnumbered 30-18 by Scott Fitzalan, Ross Barry

and Danny Johnson.

Barry Goode, Steven Mount and Anthony Grant managed a good, 24-19, win over Rob Young, Dave Perry and Doug Andrews.

25 July The wild, cold southwesterly winds continued for the second round of the Club Championship Triples which was to be the first championship game for three ‘rookies’ who have recently taken up the game.

Hylton Newman, Rick Islaub and Tony Butler were not fazed by their more fancied opponents, Graham Reynolds, Dennis Longman and Stu Dorahy

and took the game right up to them in the early stages.

They faded over the closing ends but still managed an “honourable” defeat 17-26.

Well done.

Barry Goode deserved ‘man-of-the-match’ in his game with partners, Steven Mount and Anthony Grant, but all his great bowls were not enough to fend off John Payne, Peter Cheney and John Slater, who after a very ordinary start managed to find some form to win 24-14.

The nail-biter of today's matches was the Scott Fitzalan, Ross Barry and Danny Johnson game against Col Amos, Geoffrey Muggleton and Dennis Ashbridge.

This game went right down to the last bowl on the last end with Dennis just failing to convert and the Danny Johnson team scraping home 20-19.

In the remaining game, the team of Gary Wynne, Noel Jackson and Ron Green had a tough job on their hands against the star-studded, Peter Gurney, Jeff Baker and Greg Brown side.

They were outgunned by their opponents going down 13-27.

The competition will resume on Saturday 7 August with the semi-final round with the Stu Dorahy team taking on the Danny Johnson trio and the Greg Brown team opposing the John Slater side.

National Day of Commemoration Consultation DEAR News Of The Area, AUSTRALIA joined its allies in the Middle East after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

On 11 July 2021, I confirmed that after twenty years, all Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel had departed Afghanistan, bringing our nation’s longest war to a close.

A national day of Commemoration will now be established to ensure that we, as a nation, formally recognise the service and sacrifice of Defence personnel and their families who helped to save Australian lives from terrorist attacks on our own soil.

A national day of Commemoration will be a focal point for recognition of all those who served in, supported, or lost

(CTC) in Tea Gardens will, as last week, be withdrawing from the management of the Tea Gardens Visitor Centre.

This is due largely to the increasing costs of running the centre and a reduction in visitors, while the removal of income streams such as the sale of National Park Passes has been increasingly difficult.

Over the past three years Council has covered the costs of utilities at the Centre (approximately $10,000 per annum) to assist the CTC. Council respects the reasons behind the CTC’s decision and acknowledges their hard work and dedication to the Centre over many years, firstly as part of the Great Lakes region and more recently with the Barrington Coast.

Given the sudden nature of the

their lives during these campaigns.

Noting the significance of this commemoration, we are seeking the views of ADF personnel, their families, veterans, ex-service organisations and the Australian community on an appropriate day to commemorate those who have served in the Middle East.

Or maybe he was watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and just, you know, getting involved in the ‘Don’t Dream It, Be It’ sequence.

No? Okay, maybe he was doing an experiment, like, ‘Do mosquitoes penetrate body netting?’, because he is going to patent a new range of pesticide-free mosquito products. If he had bites on his fingertips, but not the rest of his fingers, he could be onto something. No? Maybe he just likes fingerless net gloves, and who are we to question that, Mrs DP from Lemon Tree Passage, because with that very long road into Lemon Tree, sometimes you need a bit of amusement. Things can get a bit boring on that straight stretch.

I wouldn’t be too worried. I’m more concerned that you are still putting away your husband’s socks and underwear. Do you iron them? Do you fold them in neat Marie Kondo space-saving combinations?

Do you colour-coordinate? Does he have the days of the week on his socks and undies? This is 2019, you know. Let him put his own things away and then you’ll be none the wiser.

Timber tree guards to protect feed trees Council have recently completed the installation of 10 timber tree guards (harbouring Koala feed trees) around the Hawks Nest area.

This has been a joint effort from Council staff and the Myall Koala and Environment Group, with the Tea Gardens Men’s Shed helping out with the construction of the tree guards.

The day didn't start too well with a Waratha girl breaking her wrist in the first couple of minutes.

The game ended up being abandoned by the time an ambulance arrived and the girl was taken to hospital; there was not enough time to continue before the men's game was to start.

The Roos were up against the Morpeth Bulls.

Who turned out to play with only eleven players, well done guys, it shows your passion for your team and club is strong.

The Bulls were the first to put points on the board with a penalty goal 2/0.

Then the Bulls were over with a converted try to take the score to 8/0.

The Roos Captain Mitch O'Bryan was first to put points on for the Roos with Sam Croese converting 8/6.

Luke Perry was next in and Sam converted 12/8 Roos way.

Mitch was over for his second and Sam converted 18/8.

Josh White was next to score 22/8, followed

by Jack Croese and Sam converted 28/8.

Next to score for the Roos was Daniel Evans and Sam converted his 5th from 6 34/8.

Josh was in for his second and Jack Croese converted to take the score to 40/8 at the halftime bell.

The referees called the game at the halftime bell so the final score was Karuah 40 Morpeth 8.

Wearing a mask for several hours is not the easiest way to play bridge and attendance is not at its highest during this latest COVID outbreak.

TUESDAY 20 July saw the final of the Minor Pairs Competition at the Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club and three games of three bowls Triples 18 ends.

Pam Gilchrist, Lyn Nightingale and Jill McBride looked like they were heading for a crushing defeat bowling against Bev Rhodes, Sheril Johnson and Robyn Beaumont.

By the 8th end they were down by 13 shots, 13 v 0.

Sheila Rattray and Irene Roberts take out the TGWBC Minor Pairs competition

They never gave up and ended up losing by just six shots, 19 v 13.

Sue Morris, Bette Saillard and Lynda Richards started their game v Dorothy Thompson, Jean Glover and Maynie Roberts strongly they took an early lead but by the 7th end Maynie’s team were two shots in front, 7 v 5.

Lynda’s ladies didn’t add to their tally for the next eight ends the score now 18 v 5.
