Up Front All-candidates Ward 3 Grimsby next Thursday
Grimsby Legion Branch 127 will be the scene of the first all-candidates debate with Ward 3 hopefuls kicking things off. A Better Grimsby has planned a series of all-candidates sessions over the next couple of weeks. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the debate starting promptly at 7 p.m.
GHS launches its fall program
“The Grimsby House That Paint Built” will be the topic at Grimsby Historical Society’s first meeting of the Fall. Wed., Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall, Grimsby Archives’ Wayne Mullins will explain how two families built and came to stay in this Main St. East home. As well, it is the group’s pie social.
Chili, corn at Silverdale Hall
Friday, Sept. 14 from 5-7 p.m., Silverdale Community Centre – at 4610 Sixteen Road - will host its annual Chili & Corn Roast. All funds raised at the dinner will go to hall maintenance.

Berry berates gallery member “The gallery can’t be laughing,” the finance committee chair shouted By Mike Williscraft NewsNow There is no crying in baseball and, apparently, there is no laughing in the Grimsby Council chambers. A brief but loud exchange between Administration
and Finance Committee chair, Ald. Steve Berry and gallery members arose during discussion on a motion which would see the Town waive taxes for Grimsby Energy’s biodigester site at 424 Sobie Road.
Under the proposal, the Town-owned Grimsby Energy would not pay property taxes to the municipality, nor would it pay its share of Region or school board taxes. After Ald. Dave Kadwell
