Study, upgrades both needed By Mike Williscraft NewsNow The next phase of Hamilton Health Sciencesâ âOur Healthy Futureâ process may be delayed until after the new year, but other key changes at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital are rolling out as planned, say hospital officials. âWe will be sharing what we saw and heard in the initial round of publc meetings said Aaron Levo, HamiltonHealth Sciences vice-president, communications, adding
the goal is to finalize the study process in 2016. âThat document will be a 2-year vision and provide a touchstone for all we do.â Taking data, community input and best evidence to complete an inventory of the local health careâs current state, Levo said part of the goal was to learn what residents value most. âPeople had a lot of stories,â he said, noting Grimsby was the only community to host two

Other items will include: ⢠$250,000 to be spent on the emergency department; ⢠two new ultrasound units have been added, with the help of WLM Auxiiary, Repa noted, to allow expansion of service to weekends and
after hours; ⢠an electrocardiograph will be added ⢠a major change to surgical procedures will be implemented. âWe will be able to do âopen-through-incisionâ procedures, which is a much less invasive surgery,â said Repa. âThat will be great for patients, much less recovery time.â To be able to provide that form of surgery, Repa noted the operating rooms will be retroSee WLMH, Page 2
