Up Front Egg hunts set for this weekend West Lincoln gets the Easter egg hunt circuit rolling with its event at 10 a.m. Good Friday morning, March 30 at the Leisureplex. The hunt starts at 10:15 with various age groups staged. There will be a petting zoo, Tim Hortons drink truck. The Grimsby Kinsmen Club hosts its event the same day, March 30, at the rose garden in Centennial Park. Beginning at 1 p.m., children of several age groups can take a crack and finding some treats. Children up to the age of three, 3-6 years, and 6-9 will be grouped. Barbecued hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase courtesy of the Kinettes from about 12:30 p.m. Beamsville Lions event is set for Saturday, March 31, at Lions Park on Fly Road. With Smudge Family Musical show set for 9 and 10:15 a.m., the hunt starts 9:30 a.m. for up to age 3, ages 4-6 at 10 a.m. and 7-9 at 10:30 a.m., and ages 10-12 at 11 a.m.

It takes a lot to outshine an Olympic silver medal, but West Lincoln Community Care’s brand new retail facility managed to do just that during its grand opening Saturday. Tower proposal draws huge crowd By Mike Williscraft NewsNow Proposed twin towers – 19 and 22 storeys in height – for Casablanca Winery Inn site drew a host of concerns from a over capacity crowd at Grimsby town hall public meeting last Tuesday night. The meeting was part of the official planning
process for the towers proposed by the Rousseau Group, which bought the inn earlier this year. The towers are planned for the east side of the property with an expansion of the hotel facility on the west side. For Planning Committee member John Gillespie, many of con-
cerns would have been allayed had Grimsby council decisions over the last decade adhered to the Official Plan amendments put in place. “I was on the committee when we put the amendments in place to designate this area for hi-rise development,” said Gillespie
of the Winston Road area which has seen several major projects initiated in recent years. “We knew we would have population density pushed upon the community and this was the area to do it, so this was the direction we went.” Gillespie noted that
