Pender, a former Grimsby resident, was murdered at his cottage near Selkirk in February 2022. On Monday, Pender was posthumously presented the Karl Kaiser Canadian Winemaker Award, created in 2018 to celebrate great Canadian winemakers, in honour of the legacy of the late Karl Kaiser, a Canadian wine industry pioneer and viticultural visionary. “With roughly 20 vintages, and an impressive list of awards, Paul has crafted beautiful Canadian wines. Beamsville dancers earn trip to Egypt By Sarah Williscraft NewsNow Five Beamsville dancers are joining Team Canada Dance at the International Dance Organization’s (IDO) Open World Cup. Helene Lemmen, 18, Julianna Watt, 17, Ava Seca, 17, Natalie Alford,
16, and Addison Gray, 12, are dancers at Niagara Dance & Fitness Studio (NDFS) in Beamsville. The five girls have been dancing with NDFS since they were as young as four years old. The dancers were scouted after a spring
competition this year and were each given a “golden ticket”, an opportunity to join Team Canada Dance without having to audition. “The caliber of dance they presented on stage that day, the scouts wanted them,” said Bren-
da Dykun, owner and director of NDFS. “It’s an honour for myself and for the studio for them to be chosen. Their hard work and their dedication makes us all proud.” The girls will be competing as a part of Team
