Hometown Hockey machine goes into overdrive By Mike Williscraft NewsNow It is not every day a community gets featured on a national television broadcast. That opportunity - coming in the form of the three-day Rogers Hometown Hockey
event Nov. 27-29 – is not lost on Grimsby officials scurrying about trying to get as much organized as possible to promote and highlight the community. The RHH entourage will roll into town with a whole series
of programming, displays and interactive matter all to be located on the grounds of the Peach King Centre. Included will be a couple of giant screens on which to take in the Canadiens-Canucks tilt on evening of Monday, Nov. 29.
Their names live on forever more
The Grimsby Downtown Improvement Area board is hoping to connect visitors to the core over that weekend and preceding the event with a DIA Puck Passport program. - which will include a set of four Toronto Maple
Leafs tickets as one prize up for grabs. To win that prize, people can write their favourite hockey related memory on the passport. All stories submitted will be eligible for the See HOCKEY, Page 3
Time stood still for a moment Tuesday at the Jordan Cenotaph as a crowd spanning many generations gathered to remember the courage, suffering and loss of those who died in service to their country. Roy Mackey led the colour guard marching with the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch 612. Remembrance Day services are also planned for Thursday, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m. in Grimsby, Beamsville and Smithville. McDonald - Photo
