West Lincoln censures Mayor Bylsma, again West Lincoln Council issued an apology to a resident of the township after rising from a closed session last Thursday. The apology regarded what council deemed an inappropriate communication from Mayor Dave Bylsma to a West Lincoln resident. Bylsma said after the meeting that he, too, had issued a written apology directly to Emily Spanton. As a result of other actions taken by council after the closed session discussion,

Bylsma was also removed from positions on both the Peninsula West Power Inc. (PWPI) board and the West Lincoln Heritage Committee. Council’s apology state-

Grimsby ward changes back to public for input By Mike Williscraft NewsNow Despite Grimsby council receiving a report with more than a dozen options, a decision on possible new ward boundaries is still a ways off. Council agreed to a special meeting (May 25) to narrow options which will then go back to the public for input. The review has been considered one of council’s priorities due to the significant changes in the population within some of Grimsby’s ward boundaries. Flowers on Main St

Town of Grimsby took care of barrier installation and Grimsby DIA and Dave Craig of Trillium Greenhouses took care of some colourful beautification with last week’s set up of flower boxes for a second year on Grimsby’s Main Street. Restaurants in that stretch are still waiting for COVID restrictions to be lifted and permits to be issued by the Town before patios can be set up for the season. Marks - Photo

Bylsma said this week Spanton was someone with whom he had previous informative discussions. He noted that he fully understands that his question basically asking if her COVID-19 vaccine had affected her period - was needlessly personal and inappropriate. “My thinking behind the question was legitimate but it was worded poorly and should not have been personal in nature,” said Bylsma on Monday.
