" From our first meeting with Lynn, my wife and I felt assured in both Lynn and her team's ability to handle the sale of our unique family home to get us the best possible sale price. From the initial meeting, establishing a marketing plan, photography, staging, legal documents, and advertising through to viewings and feedback during the sale process, The Lynn Fee Team were excellent and kept us up-to-date. Lynn was excellent at negotiating with the buyer's agent when the offers came in, and we were able to lean on the knowledge and experience they had to make the whole process very smooth. THANK YOU! McKiels donate additional $250K to McNally House
McNally House Hospice took another step towards its fundraising goal thanks to another major contribution from benefactors Blair and Kathy McKiel.
The Grimsby couple had already donated $1 million to the facility and, at its June 14 groundbreaking for its expansion - they anteed up another $250,000.
McNally House’s journey started in 2005 when Dr. Denise Marshall drew together a group of citizens that would work towards establishing a hospice in Grimsby.
With the need in mind, in 2018, McNally House announced a $1
Blair and Kathy McKiel
Foundation to support the building of an allnew, 10-bed hospice and an all-important day hospice.
Six years of planning and fundraising led to last month’s groundbreaking.
Over the last four years, with the help of the incredible fun
co-chairs, Murray Bain and Debbie Zimmerman, McNally House raised $12.75M of the $16M needed to complete the project.
At the ground breaking ceremony, the McKeil Family Foundation pledged an additional $250,000 to kick off the public campaign, leaving just $3 million left to raise.
“We are so thankful for the ongoing support from Blair and Kathy McKeil. Their commitment to hospice care and helping to take it to the next level is a shining example to all of us,” said Bain, who is also president and board chair.
“Their gifts will transform our Day Hospice Centre so that we are able to provide even more services and assistance to people in the communities of West Niagara. They hope their gift will encourage others to help us reach our financial goal.”

$4.3 million Casablanca Park officially opened
After four years in development and construction, Grimsby’s newest park was officially opened last Thursday - a crowning attraction for the town’s waterfront.
Casablanca Waterfront Park, located at the north end of Hunter Road and at the west end of Grimsby’s waterfront trail, includes a host of features, including:
• a waterfront path with lighting;
• new playground equipment
• portable water stations
• seating
• bicycle racks
• benches
• picnic area
• landscaping;

With construction having started a year ago, emphasis was placed on accessibility, environmental preservation and creating a welcoming community space.
The construction project was completed in multiple phases to ensure ongoing access to the waterfront. Main construction is now complete, with final landscaping and site restoration wrapping up.
“We are incredibly proud to open the Casablanca Waterfront Park for our
community as it reflects town council’s dedication to enhancing our public spaces. This park offers something for every-

GBF MADE AN IMPACT OF $3 MILLION
Dear Friends,
Thanks to you, in 2023 GBF Community Services had a direct impact value in our community of more than $3 million. This is a tremendous accomplishment!
This past year has seen many people facing challenges that resulted in the need for support from GBF. Unfortunately, we do not see this continued need for support ending anytime soon. This means that we must continue to grow our organization both in terms of food collection, awareness and funding requirements to meet the increased demand locally.
The 2023 fiscal year was a challenging time as many other agencies were competing for the same charitable donations. We are grateful that many partners chose GBF as one of their charities of choice.
Our social enterprise (Thrift Store) is widely recognized as a place where you can find great value and beautiful treasures. An increase in sales was achieved which allowed more investment in direct client program needs. This was especially seen
in the investments in the Emergency Housing and Monthly Rent Supplements programs. $431,079.58 was invested in this area of service. Our Housing Program continues to provide very valuable financial assistance in the prevention of homelessness in Grimsby.
Thank you to our donors who responded generously to our appeals. We are grateful they have provided GBF with the necessary resources to enact our mission. Likewise, our volunteers have dedicated their time, talents and passion to ensure we can meet our community’s service and wellness needs.
A collaborative effort is critical to ensure all households in Grimsby have access to basic necessities of life. No donation is too small. Each person has the power to affect change with a single action. One person, one donation. It’s the Power of One.
Thank you! You are making an impact!
HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

Hit and run
This truck was seen speeding by Grimsby Museum’s Canada Day event after being involved in a hit and run incident at Casablanca Boulevard and Livingston Avenue just before Noon on Monday morning. Niagara Regional Police apprehended the suspect involved near the truck, which was abandoned on Woolverton Road near Ridge Road.
Canada needs positive, forward-thinking
As we watch the United States of America disintegrate before our eyes, one and all - warts and all - should get down and kiss the ground to thank their lucky stars we are in Canada.
It is near impossible to avoid the chaos from south of the border.
Biden’s debate meltdown was epic.
Now the supreme court has handed Trump the monarchy he so intensely craves.
It is hard to believe people who are supposed to be among their nation’s most intelligent can turn out to be the most sublimely stupid, but here we are.
Once in, if Trump succeeds in having all the judges he appointed murder the U.S. justice system so he can avoid prosecution before this fall’s election, Trump won’t leave until he dies.
He will use the guise of an official act to bequeath the presidency to another dolt like one of his sons.
England has the Windsor line of royalty, and U.S. will be stuck with the Trump line.
Now, really, I don’t care what happens in the U.S.
Unless I have to go see my brother in Michigan, I may never go back to the country.
I write about the U.S. now because some place down the road, they will come knocking at our
door. No, not citizens trying to leave Trumpland, but the nation will look at Canada as fresh meatnatural resources a plenty. What concerns me in the short term is the penchant of Progressive Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to adopt the blowhard political style of 45.
If Canada had a two party system like the U.S. I would not vote for the man. I have no use for his style and tactics. None.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has his issues, but he is better grounded in reality than Poilievre.
This far right crap needs to end.
Yes, the left has pushed to far in this nerfed up world we now live in. People who want everything all the time from all levels of government are seeing the results of blowing up budgets with escalating demands.
When you see clowns like no-jailed Steve Bannon and his media buddy Tucker Carlson weighing in with their support for
Poilievre, you know something is seriously wrong. I cannot believe that any real Canadian, right or left on the political spectrum, would want to have happen here what is unfolding in the U.S.
Step back and think, just for a second, how bad things will get there if Trump gets back into the Oval Office in the fall.
Now, I am not saying Poilievre is Trump. He does not have the savvy or smart Trump has - and, for all his bombast, don’t think for a split second he is not smart - but that is what makes him more dangerous to me.
I have yet to see Poilievre speak of any core policies which will move the country ahead. I detest - at all levelsthe standard opposition tactic of everything those in power does stinks. It is never true.
I want solutions, not incessant whining.
So let’s go feds. We’re going to have another election soon.
Let’s stick to issues.
Let’s continue to build the country, which is what people want.
Think and look forward. Figure out what is right and build on it.
Canada needs to lead, as its tradition on the world stage, and stop the petty infighting and grandstanding. Leave that to the U.S.
