Konkle Creek rehab still trickling along By Tristan Marks NewsNow The extensive work done on Beamsville’s Konkle Creek reconstruction is right on target with the only thing needed to ensure completion is funding approval. An open house was hosted last week at the Fleming Centre to give

the public an update on where the project is at and what remains to be done in Phase 2 of the project. The Thursday, June 27 meeting included story boards of work already completed in 2018 for Phase 1. This reconstruction effort was initiated due to growing erosion along the creek which was threatening

nearby property. Konkle Creek was a straight channel but – as the adjacent land became developed – more and more water flow was diverted into it increasing the flow and capacity. Some residents in attendance noted concerns over the current state of the creek. Many specifi-

cally touched on the dangers posed by creek’s increasingly rapid flow. They asked how the new design could solve this problem. Jeff Doucette, a coastal & river consultant working on the project said the increased water flow made the creek’s natural tendency See CREEK, Page 3
