Council hands Sharpe 15-day suspension By Mike Williscraft NewsNow Grimsby council voted to hand Coun, Dave Sharpe a 15-day suspension based on recommendations of a 44-page Integrity Commissioner (IC) report. The suspension will in-
clude a financial impact of about $830 in pay. In the report, IC Michael Maynard noted Sharpe had breached the Town’s Code of Conduct in many ways in the document. Another major point of contention - forwarding a letter addressed to
council from a resident to a Facebook group - was left unresolved as Sharpe refused to cooperate with Maynard’s investigation he was not providing information which could clear him, Sharpe said, “I don’t want to.” Councillors Kevin
Ritchie, John Dunstall and Randy Vaine - who were the three members of council who voted to ignore the IC’s recommendations and give Sharpe no penalty for his multiple breaches - denfended Sharpe’s actions. Dunstall focused on the
fact Sharpe did not break any laws while attending the Ottawa occupation over three weekends in January-February 2022. Dunstall went so far as to say Sharpe helped the Ottawa economy by spending money on food, See SHARPE, Page 2
