These are given playful form, as seen here in this ball-shaped light – created by winding a single thread of fibreglass and fastening it to the lighting element with epoxy resin. Random Light, by Moooi, a design developed by Bertjan Pot. Inspired by the idea of combining the familiar and the innovative in new ways. Because new perspectives are what gives rise to new trends. At first, they seem strange and are used only by a few; then, by and by, almost as a matter of course, they weave their way into our daily lives and become a familiar sight.

When has one done enough to promote a positive ecological balance? The answer, according to Keramag, is quite clearly ‘never’.

As far back as 1994, Keramag became the first company in the sanitary ceramics industry to receive the Environmental Management Certificate for particularly energy-saving and environmentally sound production processes. We constantly invest in innovative technologies in order to maximise energy efficiency in our processes, improve working conditions and guarantee long-term the high quality of our products. And the Keramag definition of sustainability also extends to choosing our materials intelligently, and developing solutions that are increasingly sparing of our natural resources.

Optimisation of production for a better quality of life: • With improved wastewater filtering and treatment techniques, freshwater recycling and a sensitive approach to dealing with this valuable resource all making an impact, our plants in Haldensleben and Wesel are now using considerably less water.

Keramag products for today and tomorrow: • Sanitary ceramics from Keramag are recyclable – because only natural raw materials and a lead-free glaze are used.

• The innovative KeraTect® glaze saves on cleaning agents – for an entire ceramic lifetime (see page 69).

• Technical innovations ensure significant savings in water use and long-term conservation of resources – from the 4.5-litre toilet flush to the 1-litre urinal flush in the domestic sector, or waterless urinal hygiene in the public and commercial sector.

Created from high-quality natural minerals and resins, the solid surface material VaricorŽ has turned out to be a true all-rounder in terms of flexibility and resistance. It can be sawn, milled, drilled, polished, contoured, grooved, joined seamlessly and almost invisibly, and formed when warm. It is impact-proof, stain-resistant, chemical-resistant and temperature-resistant to a high degree, and extremely easy to care for – and its surface has a pleasantly smooth, warm feel.
