~ OBITUARY ~ Danny Kay Snead July 26, 1956 v May 13, 2022
Danny Kay Snead passed away at the age of 65, at his home in De Soto, Kansas on May 13, 2022, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his wife, Sally of 42 years, their three children: Daughter Shawna (Chris) Van Draska, and Sons, Trevor (Amanda) Snead and Zachary Snead, his four grandchildren: Danielle and Kaitlyn Van Draska, Kenneth and Amelia Snead, his remaining siblings, Cathy Snead-Green and Susie Jo (David) McCampbell, brothers-in-law Greg Lowe and Bret Lowe and mother-in-law Coy Lowe as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Patricia (Wilson) Snead and brother Davy Snead. Born on July 26, 1956, in Bethany, Missouri, Danny grew up between a farm near McFall, Missouri and a house in Albany, Missouri. He graduated from Albany High School in 1974. He held several jobs as a mechanic after school and moved to the Kansas City area in 1976 before settling in De Soto, Kansas in 1978. He had his first child, daughter Shawna Kay Snead, on December 3rd, 1976. When he moved to De Soto he worked as a mechanic for Jerry McDaniel where he first met his future wife Sally Lowe whom he married on August 2nd of 1980. The two of them lived in De Soto, Kansas together and on July 19 of 1985 had their first child together and his second child Trevor Daniel Snead. In 1987. they built a house out at the Oak Country Estates on the east side of De Soto where he lived until he passed. On January 8th 1990, they had their second child and his third Zachary Taylor Snead. Danny went to work at KCR International (now Summit Truck Group) in Kansas City, Missouri in 1992. He worked there as a diesel mechanic for 5 years, leaving when he got a job as a fuel man and lube tech for R.L. Duncan construction in De Soto, Kansas where he worked until his retirement at 61, after which, he spent his time watching grandson Kenneth Snead part time and fiddling with his shop and various tractors, cars and equipment until his passing. He loved working on cars and tractors and anything mechanical and collected antique tools and bottles and would often travel to sales with his wife Sally looking for them. He enjoyed an ice cold beer as much as almost anything and was always an old time conversationalist able to quickly start up and often not so quickly end chats with just about anyone. Topics being anything and everything. He was a kind and gentle soul who’d do anything for anyone he loved without question or hesitation and his willingness to give, even when he had very little with which he could actually part, was the embodiment of that trait. He loved music especially rock and roll and country and could typically be found listening to artists such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, George Strait, AC/DC, Guns & Roses, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top and others too numerous to count. Most of all, he loved his kids and grandkids always lighting up at the chance to see them. Funeral service was held on Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave., De Soto, KS. Burial was in De Soto Cemetery, De Soto, KS.
