In minutes, the ED staff had recognized the mock patients’ symptoms, completed an EKG to diagnose the severe heart attack, contacted JMCGH for transfer and called in Air Evac Lifeteam to assist in getting the patient to Jackson more quickly.

Frederick D. Johnson, Jr., MD, will join Jackson Radiology

Total transfer time was 98 minutes, well under the national standard of 120 minutes for STEMI cases!

Night of Heart Raises Awareness About Heart Disease, Treatment More than 4,000 were in attendance at West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center’s Night of Heart at the Ballpark on Saturday, May 31. Many came to the game early for free heart health screenings and to visit the informational booths. After the game, all eyes were on the Jumbotron screen as Scott and Paula Owens shared about the night Scott had a “widow maker” heart attack at the age of 47, and the treatment he received afterwards by the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center team.
