Events set throughout North Woods The North Woods is recognized across the Midwest as a summer recreation paradise, offering boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, camping and water sports of all kinds, Besides the many recreational activities, most communities and nonprofit organizations in Vilas and Oneida counties plan family-oriented events for residents and vacationers alike during the summer months. The activities range from art, antique and quilt shows to summer festivals, powwows and fishing tournaments. Most of the events include fun for all ages, plus plenty of food and refreshments. The following list of summer activities was compiled by the Vilas County Advertising Department. July 27-29, Wood Boat Show, Minocqua — The 20th annual antique and classic wooden boat show will be held in downtown Minocqua. A boat parade is planned at 6:45 p.m. Friday. Phone (715) 800-6784. July 28, Blues Fest, St. Germain — The 14th annual Joe Bucher Blues Fest will be held at the park pavilion, with blues music and a Memphis-style barbecue beginning at 3 p.m. Proceeds go to Northland Pines Youth Football & Cheerleading programs.
