Spring term at Claremont sees international students engage in diverse activities while studying. In January to April, they can experience cultural events like Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Hindu celebrations, as well as traditional occasions such as St. Valentine’s Day and Easter preparations. Sports are prominent, with ongoing football academy sessions, hockey, netball, tennis, and the start of cricket training.

The school grounds and the surrounding idyllic countryside, ancient woodlands, sports fields, and wild habitats come alive during this term, offering students a refreshing natural environment to explore. A trip to the Harry Potter experience in London is also a thrilling excursion that adds an element of magic to their stay.

The spring term at Claremont offers exclusive events for students, including a planned English as an Additional Language event to enhance language skills. Students in the performing and creative arts can receive personalised guidance to develop their talents, along with experiencing the annual Senior School talent show in January, and annual Dance Show in March.

From May to July, the school is abuzz with end-of-year festivities that provide a perfect opportunity for students to engage with the local culture and their peers. One of the highlights is the Claremont Fest, an end-of-term celebration featuring vibrant stalls, live music, engaging activities, and more. This festive atmosphere allows students to experience the diverse and lively community spirit that Claremont is known for. Another cherished event is Shakespeare on the Lawn, where the performing arts students present a fresh take on a classic Shakespeare play, staged outdoors on the beautiful Senior School lawn.

In addition to these events, the summer term includes special programmes designed to build skills and prepare students for future challenges. The Year 9 Skills Quest is an exhilarating teambuilding and activities camp, offering adventures such as Aqua Park visits, paintballing, and obstacle courses. Meanwhile, Year 12 students can participate in Futures Week, a programme aimed at preparing them for life after A Levels, whether they are heading to university or entering the workforce. This week is packed with empowering sessions that cover life skills, UCAS guidance, guest speakers, and various outdoor activities.

For those interested in sports, Claremont provides ample opportunities to get involved in summer sports like football, tennis, and cricket, along with exciting sports days. Additionally, with Hastings nearby, students can enjoy beach outings, exploring the pier and experiencing the quintessential charm of a British seaside adventure.

Transfer from Gatwick/Heathrow airports or St Pancras Station are organised by the Claremont School boarding staff at the parents' or agents' requests. This is at an additional cost.

All personal digital devices are collected at night to ensure students are well-rested for school the next morning. WiFi in the boarding houses is on a timed schedule.

Students can wear their own school uniform. If this is not applicable, we will do our best to lend students Claremont School uniform. We also advise students to bring suitable alternatives, such as navy blue trousers, white shirts and other standard clothing to help match the school dress code. Leather shoes are required.

There is no expectation for immersion students to purchase textbooks. They will require a laptop/iPad to access lessons.

A fund of £60 per week is added to the fees, to cater for weekend trips and local transport costs. We advise £40 per week for pocket money.

Students share a room, complete with bathroom facilities - further details can be discussed at the interview stage.

Immersion course students are fully integrated into life alongside our full-time and weekly boarders. Our two boarding houses - Pyke House in Battle for junior boys and all girls, and Clyde House in St Leonards for our older boys - offer a cosy and safe, home-from-home environment for all of our international students.
