At the heart of our portfolio lies Blue Smoke Salsa , a cherished emblem of West Virginia’s culinary heritage. Originating three decades ago in Fayette County, this beloved salsa has most recently been crowned W est Virginia’s Best Food Product of 2023 by WV Living Magazine .

Through careful sourcing of ingredients from as close to home

as possible — tomatoes from Ohio, peppers from Florida and Georgia, sweet onions from Georgia, and salt from a nearby Charleston salt works —Blue Smoke Salsa captures the essence of Appalachia and the South in every jar.

But our journey doesn’t end there. Under the umbrella of New River Brands, we’re on a mission to revive forgotten treasures and forge new culinary frontiers. Take, for instance, Copperhead Bloody Mary Mix — a timeless classic that’s been given a modern twist, infusing brunch tables with a boldness that’s unmistakably Appalachian.

Our team is also committed to nurturing the creative spirit of

local entrepreneurs like Emily Isaac, the owner and founder of The Humble Tomato , an awardwinning restaurant in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Collaborating with Emily, we’ve brought her restaurant’s signature flavors to life in three tantalizing sauces, each a testament to Appalachian heritage and culinary excellence.

In partnership with Chef Paul Smith , a two-time James Beard Award finalist as Best Chef Southeast US , we’re marrying tradition with innovation, preserving the legacy of beloved brands while pushing the boundaries of flavor. By restoring the original recipes crafted by visionaries like Robin Hildebrand and breathing new life into established

favorites, we honor the past even as we pave the way for the future.

MILD SALSA MEDIUM SALSA

Our Mild Recipe strikes the perfect balance of tangy and savory with the distinctive sweetness of Vidalia onions. It’s a crowd-pleaser that everyone can enjoy, and has historically been our best selling recipe.

Our Medium Recipe builds on the savory and slightly sweet Mild recipe and adds just a touch of heat with the addition of jalapeno peppers. When people refer to “sweet onion salsa”, this is generally the recipe they’re referencing.

HOT SALSA PEACH SALSA

Our Hot Recipe brings the spiciness forward considerably with more jalapeno peppers and switching from sweet banana peppers to hot banana peppers. It is perfect for people who like a bit of well balanced heat.
