AMSEC Wins Two Navy Contracts 8 | 18 | 2014

Last week, AMSEC was awarded two contracts in support of the U.S. Navy. Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C., awarded a contract to AMSEC for technical and logistical support services, as well as material kitting services, for U.S. Navy LCC 19-class Amphibious Command ships. Material kitting services involve the pre-packaging of materials required to complete a specific task. Amphibious Command ships provide command and control for fleet commanders. A total of three indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity contracts were awarded for these services with a combined maximum dollar amount of $96.8 million. AMSEC was also awarded the initial delivery order valued at $1.2 million. “AMSEC continues to respond to our customer’s needs and enhance our services to meet the Navy’s requirements,” said Harris Leonard, NNS vice president and president of AMSEC Operations. “We will build on our record of superior service to the Naval Sea Systems Command and the naval fleet they support.”

NNS to Celebrate Ethics and Compliance Awareness Week Newport News Shipbuilding will celebrate Ethics and Compliance Awareness Week, August 18-22. The purpose of the week is to refocus employees on company values, communicate ethical standards and to keep the ethics message fresh in employee’s minds. The theme for the week is “Shaping the Culture.” Various employee activities are scheduled to take place during the week to highlight shipbuilder’s commitments to high standards for ethics. The Business Conduct Committee will host events such as presentations, Lunch-n-Learns, gift give-aways, and other activities. Complete an Ethics and Compliance Awareness Week Word Search on page 8. Evelyn Gregory, Ethics and Business Conduct manager, said, “As a team, we continue to seek opportunities to communicate and provide

awareness to our employees that will promote and encourage ethical conduct.” Carrie Long, Compliance administrator, added, “Regulations, policies and procedures govern every aspect of our business and our compliance with them ensures we perform with integrity and at our best.”

AMSEC will support modernization requirements for USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) and USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20). AMSEC will also provide advanced planning efforts associated with shipchecks, drawings and engineering, as well as marine maintenance and installation. The work is anticipated to be performed in Virginia Beach, Va., Yokosuka, Japan, Puget Sound, Wash., and Gaeta, Italy. The work is expected to be completed by July 2019.
