HIGH-PERFORMANCE ENCLOSURES

Our enclosure systems are rooted in our long history as timber framers and the desire to enclose our structures as quickly and efficiently as possible. We have a unique perspective into off-site fabrication that has inspired us to help others build to a high level of performance.
Using semi-automated tooling and quality carpentry experience, our pre-panelization services can help supplement labor and fasttrack the dry-in of your high-performance project. Panels arrive with detailed sequencing & installation documents for the system. We also offer on-site consultation and installation services.
Multiple trades people commented on what a great efficient way it was to build our enclosure and now that the project is done you can feel the difference walking into the home. We have air conditioning on low, powered by solar panels, and its efficiency during this very hot summer is extraordinary. It would be hard to ever go back to a conventional site built enclosure.

PLANNING Development of a 3d digital twin model increases coordination amongst the design team for solving issues digitally before project is on site.
SPEED Panels come ready to install, reducing the time it takes to get a building weather tight and ready for trade partners.
QUALITY Constructing the systems off-site in a controlled environment results in precise panels.
LABOR Off-site construction using modern automation reduces overall on-site labor.
PERFORMANCE Reduction of thermal bridging and an increase in air tightness result in a more energy efficient structure.
COMFORT Less draft, less fluctuation in temperature, and less sound penetration.
DURABILITY Airtight, vapor-open assemblies designed for long-term durability.

We follow prescriptive design paths when it makes sense and engineer for maximum efficiency where it matters. Structural brackets, straps, and holdowns can be integrated into the assembly during manufacturing, simplifying installation on-site.

Air tight, vapor permeable assemblies are built to withstand bulk water infiltration while maintaining important outward drying potential. High-performance membranes, tapes, and sealants at key points in the assembly ensure a durable, healthy, and draft-free enclosure.
Our system utilizes carbon-sequestering wood fiber insulations for both the continuous rigid insulation layer and the cavity insulation where the cavity depth can be tailored to meet your projects thermal performance goals. Beyond sustainability, wood fiber insulations perform better than most other insulations by way of thermal diffusion and hygric buffering.

Vertical strapping is installed outboard of the weather-resistive barrier to create a ventilation cavity behind the finish siding. This cladding infrastructure helps the weather-resistive barrier shed water and increases the longevity of the siding by allowing it to dry to both sides.
We collaboratively adapt our standard MatrixTM panels, floors, and roof systems to the design specifications of each project. We work with you to evaluate the schematic designs developed by you or your architect so they can be optimized for panel fabrication resulting in an accessible enclosure solution for high-performance construction.
The enclosure process with New Energy Works moving from conception to design to final shop drawings is seamless. There is an outstanding level of communication back and forth to establish understanding of the enclosure system and how it integrates with the design intent. — Peter Heintzelman, AIA, LEED G.A.
Our enclosure services start with a detailed conversation about the scope and performance goals of your project, ideally as early in the design process as possible. Through these early partnership conversations, we develop a custom approach to your enclosures based on needs, performance goals, schedule, and location.
A comprehensive 3d model is developed & engineered based off your architectural drawings. Once the model has been fully developed, panels are split into individual panels, with consideration of site access and installation sequencing. A set of project overview and detail drawings are created for our building and design partners to review prior to fabrication.
Using the digital model, production files, are exported to the shop where our semi-automated tooling uses onboard optimization software to achieve +95% material efficiency.
Panels then make their way through stations for further detailing such as cavity insulation, interior sheathings and interior service cavity installation and windows.
Finished panels are stacked, wrapped, and packaged securely for transportation to site where they are accompanied by a detailed set of sequencing & installation drawings. One of our installation consultants can help teach our systems/processes to an on-site build team. We also offer installation services where available.
The speed and the efficiency of the New Energy Works enclosure systems is the big thing onsite. As a builder, if you are at a stage where you are ready to put up the enclosure, it is going to be done fast, it is going to be done right, and it is going to be airtight. You’re not going to have to worry about any of those details, which are the most challenging parts of building a highperformance home. — Anthony Venezia, Venezia Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers
Everyone at New Energy involved in a project, for when you’re not in-house install—so
New Energy Works is a pro; everyone is responsive. I like how early I can get New Energy Works project, in terms of their comfort making cost projections with not-a-ton of information. It’s helpful you’re not far into engineering but you’re trying to get a handle on feasibility. And I like that it’s all install—so from a predictability standpoint, you don’t have to wonder what that number is going to be.

Trees remove CO2 from the atmosphere, locking it away as carbon in their wood fibers and the soil. This traps the carbon for the duration of the materials lifecycle. The more wood we use as a building material, the more CO2 we’ve removed from the atmosphere.
Renewable carbon sequestering materials such as wood fiber, cellulose, and hemp insulation reduce our impact on the environment and build healthier and better performing structures without the use of chemical foam-based products.
High-performance structures use less resources to operate, reducing long term utility costs. This further reduces a building’s carbon footprint over its lifecycle and creates a more consistent, comfortable interior environment.
Choosing sustainably harvested wood for our enclosure components ensures that the lumber we use was sourced from well managed forests. This important distinction in sourcing helps safeguard renewable resources and soil quality of our forests for the future.
Sustainable & well-built structures have a low embodied carbon footprint and a long active lifespan. At the end of their lifecycle the natural materials used in these structures can be reclaimed, reused, or will biodegrade.
