HIGH-PERFORMANCE E N C LO S U R E S

THE OF

POWER DESIGN

Our enclosure systems are rooted in our long history as timber framers and the desire to enclose our structures as quickly and efficiently as possible. We have a unique perspective into off-site fabrication that has inspired us to help others build to a high level of performance. We call this HPEzTM— High Performance Made EasierTM. Using semi-automated tooling and quality carpentry experience, our pre-panelization services can help supplement labor and fast-track the dry-in of your project. Panels arrive with detailed sequencing & installation documents for the system. We also offer on-site consultation and installation services. Multiple trades people commented on what a great efficient way it was to build our enclosure and now that the project is almost done you can feel the difference walking into the building. We have air conditioning on low, powered by solar panels, and its efficiency during this very hot summer is extraordinary. It would be hard to ever go back to a conventional site built enclosure. — Silva Family

WHY HPEz

TM

PLANNING 3D modeling prior to fabrication solves design conflicts.

SPEED Panels come fabricated and ready to install, reducing the time it takes to get a building weather tight and ready for trades.

QUALITY Constructing the systems off-site in a controlled environment results in precise panels, ready to install.

LABOR Off-site construction using modern automation reduces overall on-site labor.

PERFORMANCE Reduction of thermal bridging and an increase in air tightness result in a more energy efficient structure.

COMFORT Less draft, less fluctuation in temperature, and less sound penetration.

DURABILITY Airtight, vapor-open assemblies designed to promote long-term moisture management.

EXTERIOR WALLS We offer panelized wall assemblies which we call our Matrix WallsTM, that make building efficient structures accessible to a wide variety of projects. Our approach to off-site manufacturing allows us to fully vet and pre-engineer your project prior to delivery and installation on-site. This process saves time on-site, makes highperformance construction more manageable, addresses labor shortages, and helps to combat supply chain delays.

We offer roof & floor assemblies as well as on-site consultation and installation for select projects.

THE SCIENCE OF PERFORMANCE

HPEz prefabricated panels are engineered to be a comprehensive system with four points of functional efficiency: TM

STRUCTURE Flexibility is at the core of our Matrix Wall™. While our standard wall assemblies utilize 2x dimensional lumber, our production line is also capable of incorporating a variety of engineered wood products to meet your project’s design goals. Structural brackets, straps, and holdowns can be integrated into the assembly during manufacturing, simplifying installation on-site.

RAINSCREEN Vertical Strapping is installed outboard of the weather-resistive barrier to create a ventilation cavity behind the finish siding. This gap helps the weather-resistive barrier shed water and increases the longevity of the siding by allowing it to dry to both sides.

INSULATION Our system utilizes carbon-sequestering cavity insulations, such as hemp or cellulose, and a continuous layer of wood fiber insulation to mitigate thermal bridging through the framing members. The cavity depth and exterior insulation thickness can be tailored to meet a project’s thermal performance goals.

CONTROL LAYERS Airtight, vapor-open assemblies are built to mitigate moisture penetration, but also designed to safely handle moisture that inevitably occurs over a building’s lifespan by enabling the wall to dry in either direction. High-performance membranes, tapes, and sealants at key points in the assembly ensure a durable, healthy, and draft-free enclosure.

Matrix3

TM

Our Matrix3TM open-cavity wall allows builders to exceed the increasingly high standards of local building and energy codes. The open cavity is a familiar assembly to the building trades carrying the project forward after wall installation and is a natural fit for builders transitioning from conventional, site-built enclosures to prefab construction.

The Matrix3sTM closed-cavity wall further simplifies on-site build sequencing with a shop-installed interior vapor retarder and air barrier, preparing walls for pre-insulation in our shop or insulation on-site. The interior service cavity is designed for ease of mechanical rough-in and installation of interior finishes while protecting the control layers from penetrations.

THE EXPERTISE OF PROCESS

PROCESS We collaboratively adapt our standard Matrix Wall™ panels, floors, and roof systems to the design specifications of each project. We work with you to evaluate the schematic designs developed by you or your architect so they can be optimized for panel fabrication resulting in an accessible enclosure solution for high-performance construction. Here’s the breakdown on how our HPEzTM process works: The enclosure process with New Energy Works moving from conception to design to final shop drawings is seamless. There is an outstanding level of communication back and forth to establish understanding of the enclosure system and how it integrates with the design intent.

IN THE SHOP Production files are exported to the shop where our 4-axis saw uses onboard optimization software to achieve +95% material efficiency. Framing members come off the outfeed table labeled and are organized per panel on carts where they await fabrication. Our craftspeople then utilize our semi-automated framing bridge to frame and sheathe the panels.

Panels are offloaded onto our butterfly tables where they are easily flipped for further detailing such as cavity insulation, interior sheathings and interior service cavity installation.

ON YOUR SITE Finished panels are stacked, wrapped, and packaged securely for transportation to site where they are accompanied by a detailed set of sequencing & installation drawings. One of our installation consultants can help teach our systems/processes to an on-site build team. We also offer installation services where available.

The speed and the efficiency of the New Energy Works enclosure systems is the big thing onsite. As a builder, if you are at a stage where you are ready to put up the enclosure, it is going to be done fast, it is going to be done right, and it is going to be airtight. You’re not going to have to worry about any of those details, which are the most challenging parts of building a highperformance home.

THE BEAUTIES OF WOOD

Garey Gomez Photography

SUSTAINABILITY through forward-thinking structures made with natural materials that are renewable & environmentally responsible. CARBON SEQUESTRATION Trees remove CO2 from the atmosphere, locking it away as carbon in their wood fibers and the soil. This traps the carbon for the duration of the materials lifecycle. The more wood we use as a building material, the more CO2 we’ve removed from the atmosphere.

NATURAL INSULATION Renewable carbon sequestering materials such as wood fiber, cellulose, and hemp insulation reduce our impact on the environment and build healthier and better performing structures without the use of chemical foam-based products.

PERFORMANCE High-performance structures use less resources to operate, reducing long term utility costs. This further reduces a building’s carbon footprint over its lifecycle and creates a more consistent, comfortable interior environment.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING Choosing sustainably harvested wood
