ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES Stephen Massicotte (Playwright) was born in Ontario and grew up in Thunder Bay. He attended Cambrian College, where he graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Design and Advertising. He also graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary. The Boy's Own Jedi Handbook is a coming-of-age story based on Massicotte's own experience, which shows the imaginative impact of the 1977 release of Star Wars on an adolescent boy and his friend. The play was revived at the 2003 Alberta Theatre Project's playRitesFestival. Other early plays include My Life of Crime, A Farewell to Kings: A Banger Play (Ground Zero Theatre in Calgary, and Theatre Network's NeXtFest in Edmonton), and Looking After Eden. His first full-length work was Mary's Wedding at Alberta Theatre Projects. Massicotte has also written a screenplay for Mary's Wedding. In has been adapted as an opera, which premiered in Victoria in 2011. Other works include Pervert (Pumphouse Theatre, Calgary); The Emperor of Atlantis (Edmonton Opera Company); and the Betty Mitchell Award-winning play The Clockmaker (playRites). His antiwar play, The Oxford Roof Climber’s Rebellion, was commissioned by the National Arts Centre and premiered at the Great Canadian Theatre Company in Ottawa as well as at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto. It went on to hit off-Broadway and won the 2007 Canadian Author’s Association Carol Bolt Award for the best English-language play as well as the 2007 Gwen Paris Ringwood Award. Massicotte's screenplays include a supernatural thriller filmed on the Isle of Man called The Dark; and the cult horror film Ginger Snaps and its sequels, for which he was awarded an AMPIA. He has also written scripts for the Disney TV series; Honey, I Shrank the Kids; and the CBC's Tom Stone. Massicotte is a member of the Alberta Playwrights Network, the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers, and the Playwrights Guild of Canada. He currently lives in New York.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES continued Chad Rabinovitz (Director), is the only artist in the United States simultaneously serving as the Producing Artistic Director of two theaters devoted to new works: Bloomington Playwrights Project (Bloomington, IN) & Adirondack Theatre Festival (Glens Falls, NY). In addition to producing new works, Chad has directed more than 100 productions across the country, focusing primarily on new and contemporary plays and musicals. He is also currently the Producer of the Adirondack Film Festival as well a visual arts festival, Arts Fair on the Square. At ATF, Chad has grown attendance from 5,700 to over 13,500 in just 3 seasons, doubled subscribership, broke numerous box office records, introduced innovative children’s programming, and produced multiple best-selling shows in ATF’s history. Under Rabinovitz’s tenure, the Bloomington Playwrights Project has undergone what Bloom Magazine calls “a near miraculous renaissance,” quintupling its subscribership, erasing all debt, and purchasing its building. BPP sold out every single performance of every production for 4 straight years. Specializing in developing new works, Rabinovitz has fostered and directed premieres from countless prominent playwrights. He is also known for his unique ability to work with magicians on developing and directing their acts. For his achievements, Rabinovitz was the recipient of Bloomington’s Manager of the Year Award, the Downtown Revitalization Award, Bloomington’s Attraction of the Year Award, and was honored with being on the cover of Bloom Magazine where he’s referred to as “a visionary artistic director, savvy businessman, and inspirational leader.” He was named one of the 100 Reasons to Love Bloomington and was awarded Bloomington’s 10 Under 40 award as well as Glens Falls’ 20 Under 40 award in the same month. Chad is a proud graduate of Advanced Space Camp.

ARTIST BIOS continued Kayla Cieslinski (Stage Manager) Having just graduated from Indiana University, Kayla is excited to be the new Resident Stage Manager at BPP! Her previous stage management credits include BPP's Out of Orbit and Indiana University's Peter and the Starcatcher and The Exonerated. Kayla also designs costumes when she isn't stage managing.

Some of her design credits include: Cardinal Stage's The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Indiana University's Bodies of Light: A Shadow Passes, Flower and Sword, and University Players' The Great American Trailer Park Musical. She also loves contributing to any production in any way she can. Kayla is from Madison, Indiana.

Shane Cinal (Scenic Designer) is a freelance scenic designer and artist with a particular interest in design for new works/concepts and opera.

He is pleased to return to BPP with The Jedi Handbook, where he recently designed the close up magic event, Glitches in Reality. Previous BPP design credits include Cadillac, Still the River Runs, The Bull The Moon and the Coronet of Stars, SPUN, and Home. Other design credits include Camelot, Steel Magnolias, Assassins, Sweeney Todd, The Gondoliers, The Visit, Carmen, Don Giovanni, and Little Women. Shane was also commissioned to reproduce maquettes that were featured in the exhibit Staging the Ukranian Avant-garde with the Ukrainian Museum in NYC. He holds a BA in Theatre and History from Indiana University and a MFA in Theatre Design from the Ohio State University. www.shanecinal.com

ARTIST BIOS continued Claire Stebbins (Costume Design) has worked as a costume designer, wardrobe supervisor, and wig stylist for numerous local Bloomington theaters. She was the wardrobe supervisor and wig stylist for Front Page Flo and Tuning In and was also the costume designer for Apropos of Nothing. Claire was the costume designer for Stages Bloomington, designing Legally Blonde and The Wizard of Oz. For six years, she worked at the Jacobs School of Music Musical Arts Center in the costume shop as the shop assistant, lead dresser, and wardrobe supervisor for the Ballet Department. Claire recently returned from a summer at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival in New York where she worked as part of the wardrobe team. She studied at Indiana University and graduated in 2014 with a BA in playwriting and costume design from the theatre department.

Jeffrey Small (Lighting Design) is excited to return to the BPP for his tenth production. Based in NYC, Jeffrey has worked both at home and at countless regional theatres around the country. He now spends a majority of his time working in live event and television production on shows like The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Year’s Eve in Times Square, NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, The Wiz Live!, and Peter Pan Live! Jeffrey is best known for his work as an accomplished Advanced Space Camp Graduate, where he served on multiple Shuttle missions, and missions to Mars. He was a member of the world-class team, Starfish Elite, helmed by renowned Crew Trainer, Monique Davis.

Astronaut Small received great acclaim at Space Camp as Flight Director for the most phenomenal nominal mission on record.

ARTIST BIOS continued Joel Watson (Sound Design) is an actor and sound designer based in Bloomington, IN. As resident sound designer for BPP, he has worked on multiple productions including Apropos of Nothing and Beating a Dead Horse. Regionally, he has provided sound design for Jewish Theater of Bloomington’s production of Leipzig and assistant designed for Art of Africa's My Children! My Africa! In spring of 2018 he created an extensive auditory landscape for Ivy Tech Student Production’s Anon (ymous) by Naomi Iizuka. Joel is also the co-host & engineer of the semi-critical poetry podcast: Between Oceans and Gold Teeth, available at soundcloud.com/betweenoceansandgoldteeth. He is honored to work with Jon Fredette's original design for Jedi Handbook.

Barb Steininger (Props Master) has provided props and costumes for many years, beginning with Blackfork Players. She then continued in the same capacity with props and costumes for many memorable productions at Richmond Civic Theater such as Fiddler on the Roof, Hello Dolly, Odd Couple, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Lion in Winter. With Bloomington Playwrights Project, she began as props master for RX and continued through their seasons until more recent productions as Apropos of Nothing, The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers, Thirty Day Mourning Period, Front Page Flo, Home, Row After Row, Calling All Kates, Happily Ever After, Beating a Dead Horse, SPUN, Out of Orbit, The Oregon Trail, Glitches in Reality, and Tuning In. She thanks her husband, Stephen, for his support and understanding of her love for theater. Barb also thanks BPP for the opportunity to be a part in so many amazing productions.

ARTIST BIOS continued Michael Sheehan (Assistant Director) is excited for his opportunity to learn the art of directing from Chad during the production of Jedi Handbook. Mike was born here in Bloomington and raised in Montana where he was heavily involved in the local theater programs. After a 10 year hiatus from the stage Mike returned to theater, working backstage for the BPP's Everything in its Place: The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers, Front Page Flo, Spun, Tuning In, and Oregon Trail and on stage as Cal in Row after Row, as Steve in Beating a Dead Horse and as Chris in Out of Orbit.

Mike is honored to be working with the wonderful cast and crew of Jedi Handbook.

Josh Carroll (James) is beyond thrilled to be back at the BPP. An actor hailing from Chicago, IL, he has performed in Welcome to Jesus (American Theatre Company), Dead Man Walking (Piven Theatre Workshop), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Metropolis Performing Arts), The Gravedigger (First Folio Theatre), Home Before Dark (The Ruckus), Countess Bathory, The Passion of Boudicca, The Wayward Women (We Three Plays),To Kill a Mockingbird, Macbeth (Oak Park Festival Theatre), Alicja w Krainie Czarรณw (Theatre Polonia). Josh has also performed in multiple seasons with Black Hills Playhouse, The Shawnee Summer Theatre and is one half of the reigning, defending, Louisville Championship Arm Wrestling Terrific Twosome Champions. Josh has trained with Second City Chicago and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. He holds an MFA from Western Illinois University and a BA from Fontbonne University.

ARTIST BIOS continued Anna Doyle (Kerry) is a first-year MFA student in the IU Theatre program, where she recently played Jess in Only Child and Liz Almond in The Heiress. She also had the pleasure of playing Mutti in the Jewish Theatre of Bloomington's production of Leipzig this fall. Anna is originally from Maine, and has studied at Colby College, The Eugene O'Neill Center, and The Purple Rose Theatre. Selected regional credits include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena) for Hoosier Shakes, Time Stands Still (Mandy), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Nina) for Open Book Theatre, Constellations (Marianne) for Outvisible Theatre, Peter and the Starcatcher (Molly), The Winter’s Tale (Perdita), What the Butler Saw (Geraldine), The Real Inspector Hound (Felicity) for Theater at Monmouth. This is Anna's first show with BPP and she'd like to thank the cast and crew for this experience! As always, love and gratitude to Mom and Dad, and Michael.

Lucy Farmer (Miss K./Mandy) is currently a master's student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy through Lesley University's Low Residency program. She received her BFA in Theatre Arts through Boston University's conservatory program in 2016. She was immediately drawn to human service work post-grad so this is her first show since leaving college. Lucy grew up in Bloomington and spent a large part of her childhood performing at the BPP, so she's thrilled to be back for Jedi. Huge shoutout to everyone who has loved and supported her throughout this journey.

ARTIST BIOS continued David Sheehan (Boy) is an actor, director, composer, and theater educator based in Bloomington, Indiana. For the BPP David directed the Woodward Newman Drama Award winning plays Out of Orbit by Jennifer Maisel, You Remind Me of You by Matthew Capodicasa and co-directed with Chad Rabinovitz, Home by Christy Hall and Scott Allan; and Make Me Bad, the murderous musical by Alex Brightman and Drew Gasparini.

David’s sound designs have been featured in the BPP’s 30 Day Mourning Period, The Bull, the Moon and the Coronet of Stars, Row After Row, Spun, Oregon Trail and Everything in Its Place: The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers. On the other side of the curtain, David originated the roles of Jesse in Spun, Christof in The Truman Show: The Musical, Stevie in Ugly Lies the Bone and was most recently seen as Darren in Happily After Ever. David is from Bozeman, MT and a proud graduate of Indiana University.
