ACHS Celebrates Opening of New Museum and History Center

Yazoo Mills Announces Promotions

Yazoo Mills, Inc. recently announced the promotion of Andrew Reynolds to shipping supervisor. Reynolds began his career at Yazoo 12 years ago as a winding operator and has held several key roles, including winding floater and shipping lead.

In his new role, Reynolds oversees the shipping department across all three shifts at the New Oxford plant. He ensures the day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently, which helps Yazoo maintain the fastest turnaround times in the industry.

The Adams County Historical Society (ACHS) celebrated the grand opening of its new museum, Gettysburg Beyond the Battle, in mid-April. During Grand Opening Weekend, over 1,000 people visited the new facility to see the museum and enjoy a full weekend of events, including book signings, children’s activities, talks, and a special panel discussion. Guest speakers during included William A. Frassanito, Jeff Shaara, Susan Eisenhower, and Garry Adelman.

Located less than a mile north of the heart of Gettysburg, Beyond the Battle offers a broad historical perspective focused on the civilian experience, beginning in prehistoric times and working its way to the recent past through 12 chronological galleries. The museum features interactive exhibits ranging from dinosaur footprints to a recreated colonial tavern. Additionally, the museum includes three rotating exhibits and a special exhibit gallery featuring the collection of renowned historian William A. Frassanito.

The museum’s premier experience, Caught in the Crossfire, proved to be its most popular exhibit during opening weekend. Caught in the Crossfire is an immersive experience that uses cutting-edge technology to place visitors inside a reconstructed farmhouse during the Battle of Gettysburg. Visitors see, hear, and feel what it was like for one Gettysburg family to be overrun by invading forces and trapped behind enemy lines.

Beyond the Battle Museum is located at 625 Biglerville Rd. in Gettysburg. The museum is currently open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Dr. Charles H. Glatfelter Research Room is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.gettysburgbeyondthebattle.org.

Yazoo Mills also announced the promotion of Tim Colehouse to recut supervisor. In this role, he is responsible for the management of the recutting team at the New Oxford plant, scheduling workloads and ordering essential parts for the department.

Colehouse started his career at Yazoo Mills in May 1997 as a 3″ automatic machine setup person. Through on-the-job training, he began to advance into key roles by learning to set up all machines within the recut department. As he continued to expand his knowledge on the production floor, Colehouse also boosted his management skills by attending a Dale Carnegie class, an elevated leadership course and safety courses with CPR training. All this has helped pave the way toward promotions to positions of floater, lead and now, supervisor.
