Interior designer Anne Becker worked with architect Lisa Botticelli to create a guest bedroom for kids that would evoke a nautical feeling without any unnecessary clutter at a summer home on Nantucket’s Eel Point. “There’s a fine line between not enough and too much when it comes to designing a space,” says Becker. “When you are designing for young children, it makes sense to not fill the room with a lot of stuff.”
1. Becker is a big believer in lighting. “To me, lighting is like jewelry for a room,” she says. “It’s not an afterthought. It sets the tone more so than other parts of a room.” The centerpiece of this bunkhouse is the Ranger pendant in polished nickel from Barn Light Electric Company. | barnlight.com 2. The designer calls the Penarth walnut oval wall mirror from Crate & Barrel “an amazing value.” The unique basket underneath doubles as a laundry hamper. | crateandbarrel.com

3. Four of the five bunks have Cabin Light reading lamps from Circa Antiques. | circaantiques.com 4. There are actually five bunk beds in this room, with detailing designed by Botticelli. The guardrails are hinged, so making the beds is a breeze. The convenient storage drawers are adorned with hardware from Brass ’N Bounty in Marblehead, Mass., that resembles boat cleats. | brassandbounty.com 5. The bedding comes from Annie Selke. “It’s cotton, and the pattern is simple and geometric with a slightly bohemian vibe,” says Becker. “The client didn’t want fussy bedding.” | annieselke.com
