Quick & easy test to detect food pathogens T he Hygiena™ Lateral Flow System (LFS) test is designed to detect food pathogens on environmental surfaces, in a variety of ready-to-eat food, dairy and fish products. The test is quick and simple to use and reliably detects one colony forming unit (cfu) bacteria in 25 grams of sample. This antibody-based method offers optimised media, minimum labour and material costs, making it a cost-effective tool for routine pathogen screening.

and reliable results much faster than conventional, culture-based testing. After a few simple steps, the sample wicks up the test strip by capillary action. Within ten minutes, two red lines appear if the target pathogen is present. Otherwise, only the control line appears, which indicates that the test has worked correctly.

Easy pathogen screening Using a unique combination of antibodies and highly engineered colloidal gold conjugate coated on the surface of a membrane, the Lateral Flow System yields clear

Biosystems – what every wine and food lab needs

T

he Enology system, consisting of automatic analysers Y-15 and Y-25 and a complete line of dedicated reagents, provides the maximum information throughout the winemaking process to enology laboratories. Dedicated reagents — liquid and with long stability — minimise handling by the winemaker, offering speed and convenience in obtaining results. BioSystems offers the winemakers a unique complete system in the wine market. It is an easy and effective automation with the guarantee of the highest quality and service. Food Safety reagents detect high interest parameters in the food and feed industry in relation to labelling, toxins, additives, sugars and many others. BioSystems reagents are based on chemical complexes, enzymes or antibodies that bind the analyte with high affinity, offering sensitivity and accuracy at an affordable cost. Bearing in mind the wide variety of foods, BioSystems validates the reagents in different food matrices and designs different extraction procedures. In addition, the enzymatic and chemical reagents can be automated in BioSystems instruments, improving the speed of the test. Optimised media The Lateral Flow System uses

High-performance moisture analysers

M

easuring the moisture content in food products is of particular importance as it influences the quality and shelf life of a product. Mettler Toledo’s versatile range of moisture analysers and tools offer a full solution to ensure optimal moisture determination of products to suit the needs of quality control, production and in-process control of many industries. Today many customers use a moisture analyser as a faster method of moisture content determination, compared to the loss on drying principle. Moisture analysers consist of a high-performance weighing cell separated from the heating source for best moisture results. Method flexibility ensures reliable results in quality and in-process control, either in the lab or directly on the production floor. Integrated routine testing and quality management

features help to ensure optimal instrument performance. Accurate results The moisture analysers provide highly reliable and repeatable moisture results thanks to fast halogen heating and superior weighing performance, with up to 0.001 percent moisture-content readability. Integrated method development supports the creation of reliable moisture methods with minimal effort.

specifically designed media that facilitate the maximum recovery of both sublethally injured and healthy cells, while inhibiting closely related competitive flora. Using this optimised media simplifies and shortens enrichment times. Major assays to meet your needs Full product line tests and media are available for Salmonella, Listeria and E. coli O157 (including O157:H7). Test strips have a long shelf life and can be stored at room temperature. The Lateral Flow System test is an immunoassay alternative for routine pathogen screening. It has been certified by the AOAC Research Institute as Performance Tested Methods SM 080501. Eco Titrator – new titration platform helps manufacturers reduce risks in quality control

W

hen something goes wrong in quality control, the reputation of the brand concerned is at stake. Rather exclude risks in the first place, which is easy with the new Metrohm Eco Titrator. It makes titration so simple, safe, and reliable that everybody can perform titrations – and get the results right. Increasing pressure on the manufacturing industry The pressure on small and medium sized manufacturers to perform quality control in compliance with official regulations is rising. Tougher quality standards are being enforced, notably in emerging markets. Metrohm helps manufacturers rise to this challenge with the Eco Titrator. Manufactured in Switzerland, this new, competitively priced titration system helps small companies in particular take their

quality control to the next level. Reducing the risk of human errors The Eco Titrator makes titration as easy and reliable as it should be: Users just have to select the required standard method on the instrument’s touch sensitive user interface, enter the sample size, and start the titration at the touch of a screen. The analysis is carried out automatically, including GLP compliant documentation of results.

The perfect solution for many industries From food & beverages to petrochemicals to water analysis and surface finishing – combined with quality sensors from Metrohm, the Eco Titrator is an ideal solution for quality control in virtually all industries. Local service and support available Wherever they are based, users of the Eco Titrator can rely on local service and support provided by the global Metrohm sales organisation with subsidiaries and agencies in 120 countries.
