Many are feeling spiritually dry, dead, and alone. Like Ezekiel, they find themselves in a valley of dried dead bones.
Some struggling in the spiritual bone yard of life have turned to drugs and alcohol. Others have just forged ahead trying to survive in the new age of materialism, self gratification and indifference to the needs of others.
Yet the emptiness remains, as hopelessness starts to set in. In Ezekiel 37:6 God promises “I will make breath enter you so that you may come to life.”
We don’t have to be just another dry dead bone on the bone pile of life. We can really live. That is why we need the breath of God, the Holy Spirit, coming upon us. It is the Holy Spirit who provides rebirth, regeneration, and revival.
Ezekiel had earlier in Chapter 14:1-8 spoke of the need for idols to be removed from the heart. Now those who had lost everything, and found themselves exiled in a foreign country, were being told that they could experience life and hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prior to coming to New Life Evangelistic Center, I had my own place. I had 2 cars, and a really cool dog named Elvis. I was bored with life and saw no future for myself at the time. I knew I needed a change and God was calling me to do His work. I just didn’t want to. I was being stubborn. So, in a matter of a couple of years, I lost both of my cars. Then I lost my home and had to give my dog to someone else to take care of. Of course, I was not seeing it God’s way, but my own. I still was rebellious and living in fear a lot. I’ve turned my will over to Him. I’ve prayed and asked for guidance. The Holy Spirit directed me to New Life Evangelistic Center and I now have hope and my prayers have been answered.
I’m a work in progress but I want to better my life. I love God. I just need a closer relationship to Him. I am hoping that with Rev. Rice’s help I can become what Christ would like. Julie H.
When I moved out of my brother’s house we were arguing all the time. I prayed for peace. I needed a new start. Away from the arguing and some place where the people were good and where they would help me out. I prayed to God and asked Him for these things, and He answered my prayers.
I’m now at New Life Evangelistic Center. I have a new family. They help me. They feed me. I have a roof over my head and a nice place to sleep. I’m happy here and now I am praying for other women who may also need help. There are so many people that need a place to stay, and to have a relationship with God.
He will help all of us when we ask for it. I’m thankful for everything I have and that I am able to give of myself and my time now. Caroline
I was homeless and living on the streets when I moved in with a friend. After a couple of months and paying the $300 I had and half of my food stamps for rent, my “friend” told me I had to go. With no money and nowhere to go, I was back out on the streets. After having two strokes this past year and losing all feeling in my right foot, I was hurting, hot, and tired. I prayed that God would help me.
As I walked down a neighborhood street, I saw this girl sitting on her front porch. I asked if I could charge my phone, and she said yes. Then she invited me to sit on her porch where there was shade, and a fan! She asked me if I was thirsty, and gave me a bottle of water. Then she asked if I was hungry and she gave me food to eat. Then she called her Mom, who worked at New Life Evangelistic Center and told her about her new “friend” who needed help.
Within hours, I went from being hopeless and homeless, to being on a bus to New Bloomfield. There I was given a safe place to sleep, food to eat, clothes to wear and the knowledge that God had answered my prayers!
I am so grateful for New Life Evangelistic Center and their staff and the way God worked to bring me to this place of hope, healing and relationship with Jesus Christ. Now, I am praying for my future while thanking God for bringing me through my past. Charles

On the cover of the last New Life ZOA Free Paper over the caption, ‘Tornado Leaves Trail of Destruction’ was a picture of a man walking through a pile of rubble with his dog. The man was Gwen’s son, Wayne.
Wayne was in the back of the house when the tornado struck. Gwen was on her computer in the front. When the tornado hit the back of the house, Wayne called out to her as he was running towards the place she was at.
As Wayne ran, the house began falling on them. He cried out, “Momma” as the house crumbled around them. Gwen thought this was the end. Then Wayne began to grab Gwen’s bruised body and pulled her out of the rubble that was once her home.
Forty years of Gwen’s life had been destroyed May 16th in a matter of mintues. Gwen had been a school bus driver who had raised Wayne in the house that had fallen in around her.
With nowhere to go, Gwen and Wayne slept outside the pile of bricks that was once the place they called home. They would sleep in shifts, watching all they had once owned buried under the bricks and wood they had called home.
With each passing day Gwen would stare in disbelief until depression began to set in. This was the home she had raised her son and granddaughter in. The depression grew with the hopelessness that surrounded her.
Things began to change as people started checking on her. This included the police officers who brought her food, EMS crews, members of the fire department, and others. Elliot Davis from Elliot Davis TV’s Facebook Page began to share her story regularly. Sister Precious and her dedicated team of volunteers began to come on Saturdays to sift through the debris, looking for Gwen’s family pictures and other personal items from the past. New Life Evangelistic Center gave Gwen a generator, so she could have electricity. The Urban League provided nights in a motel.
As the spirit of God moved through His people, life and hope began to once again come forth in Gwen. Gwen became a symbol of how, when the Lord’s people come forth and help, life and hope replaced hopelessness.
Gwen does not plan to rebuild on the present site of destruction, but she knows that wherever God leads her she will not be alone.

The miracle described in Ezekiel 37 relating to a hopeless group of exiles not only came to pass but its historical fulfilliment offers hope to those who feel their lives are nothing more than an empty existence for which there is no hope.
Ezekiel described what happened this way. “The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”
“Then He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
Ezekiel 37:4-6
Ezekiel 37:1-3
“So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
“Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’”
“So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet - a vast army.”
Historically this prophey has been fulfilled with the return of Israel from the Babylonian captivity. Today it continues to be fulfilled with the transformation of each hopeless life made new through the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17

Ezekiel did what God commanded and prophesied to the bones and God did the impossible. “Breath came into them, and they came to life and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army” (Ezekiel 37:10)
It is easy to feel totally alone in a spiritual bone yard, where we feel we are just one more bone on the bone pile of a purposeless, hopeless existence.
After Jesus Christ died on the cross his followers faced that same dilemma. Their leader was dead. Their hope seemed lost. Their experience of life seemed to be headed straight to the boneyard. Then the reports started coming in. Jesus was seen alive! The rumors became reality as over 500 individuals began to testify, they had seen the Risen Lord.
When one by faith accepts the Risen Christ as Lord and Savior, they will develop a deep desire to love God and follow the leading of the Spirit (Romans 8:13-14). “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (II Corinthians 3:17). This freedom provided by Jesus Christ and the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, is not a freedom to do what we want (I Corinthians 10:23-24). Instead, it produces a newfound desire to let the righteousness and compassion of God work through us (Romans 6:18-19).
When the Holy Spirit revives us, we discover the freedom and joy that comes from helping others who are in need. Jesus declares, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40). As the gift of the Holy Spirit works in our lives, we in turn become instruments of Christ’s love, that will freely flow into the lives of hurting people.
“And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves.”
Is there a need you are facing? Does a fear concerning the future haunt you day and night? Do you desire a greater move of God in your life with a revival in your spirit like never before? Are you feeling weak, powerless, or hopeless? Believe God that He hears you as the Holy Spirit makes intercession for you.
Peter quoted Joel 2:28-32 as he shared his great message that brought forth the revival we read about in Acts 2. There, we see the weak, the powerless, the hopeless as recipients of the life given through the love of God and the power of the gift of the Holy Spirit. The action of the Helper occurs for the benefits of those of us who are struggling, and know we need Him at work in our lives daily.
The ones who feel they are hopeless dry dead bones, crushed to the extent that they are no longer able to dream dreams or see visions, are promised, “I will pour out My Spirit on all people, your sons, and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men see visions. Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.”
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”
(Joel 2:28-32).
Don’t give up and remain a dry dead bone. Let the Holy Spirit help you to hear the voice of Jesus and abide in His presence. He will give you the divine power to remain steadfast, immovable, abounding in His work. At this time refuse to let the idols of this world make your heart as hard as stone. Let the dream the Holy Spirit has given you come forth and believe the promises of God.
As you believe, continue to move forward by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit, and watch and wait. In the end you will be revived. Then you will see the Holy Spirit do exceedingly beyond what you could ask or think! This is a guarantee signed, sealed, and delivered through the blood of Jesus Christ.
To save my life, I was forced to undergo several surgeries. But due to my long hospital stays and recovery time, I lost my jobs and my home. There is no place in Springfield like the New Life VCHC.
Here, I am treated with respect and dignity. I have witnessed others who through Jesus, broke through the chains of homelessness, and got their own place! I am not alone! He (Jesus) is with me! He will soon deliver me!

I lost everything due to my addiction.
I lost my job. I lost my house, I lost my wife, but mostly, I lost myself.

I retriggered my addiction to meth after 2 years of sobriety when I fell away from God. I stopped reading my Bible. I stopped going to church. I stopped praying. It was like I just gave a free ticket to the devil to destroy my life. This time, I know better! The New Life VCHC is here to support me with my physical needs such as food, water, clothing, and more. They also help me in my spiritual growth through daily prayer and devotions! I am now sober, closer to God and starting a new job tomorrow! I was once dead, but He brought me back to life! Praise God!

I am homeless due to family problems. I am now sleeping on the streets of Springfield. I was so hopeless until God’s Spirit breathed new life into me when I came thru the doors of the New Life VCHC! Thru the center’s daily devotionals, my strength in God is stronger!
I now volunteer my time at the center in helping my fellow homeless brothers and sisters. I gladly assist in cleaning up the center and serving meals! The Lord has told me He will deliver me from homelessness as I continue to serve Him and praise Him! The Spirit of God has given me new hope!

I allowed my selfishness to lead me down a path of destruction. Because of my pride and arrogance, I lost everything in just 4 1/2 months. My addiction to meth didn’t help either. But I surrendered my life back to Jesus, and I have been clean for over 8 months! The New Life VCHC helps me to survive while I am homeless. I don’t know where I would be without this place! Please pray for me to find employment and for God to continue to restore my broken life. Aaron
I remember, while going to the New Life VCHC and crying out to God to save me. I asked him to save me from my homelessness, my hopelessness, my addictions, and myself.
I remember waiting to hear His voice, and all I heard was crick-
ets. Silence! But I never stopped praying! Then, one miserable day in the midst of my self-inflicted torture, I finally HEARD HIM! Jesus came to me! He told me He was always there! But now I was ready to surrender my life so I could finally hear my Savior’s voice and feel His love! The New Life VCHC played a major part in changing my life, because there, I experienced the love and hope of Christ! I am sober and getting ready to enter a sober living house.
Christ, in the midst of my pain and sins, is teachimg me how to love Him, and to love myself! I love you, Jesus! Thanks for saving me from myself! Gloria
The person who I thought was my trusted friend kicked me out of his home! I was totally alone, with my closest relatives many states away. I didn’t know where to go or what to do! Someone directed me to the New Life VCHC, where I found safety. The New Life VCHC is a place where I can take a peaceful nap. Where I can collect my mail, and where I can get two hot meals. The New Life VCHC is a place where I feel respect. It is a place where I can hear the Word of God.
Please pray for me to find favor through the applications I have turned into employers. Getting a job will help me to break these chains of homelessness. Jasper
I was, because of my foolish choices, like a bunch of dead bones. I had no feelings, no motivations, no sense of self. My life of colors dimmed to harsh grays, blacks, and whites. I was part of the walking dead.
I found HOPE at the New Life VCHC. The staff listened to me, held my hands, and prayed with me as I was going through my struggles! I then saw my homeless friends, one by one, discover Christ and go into either detox or rehab. I am also planning to go to recovery, asking God to breathe life into my old, dead bones. I want to find me again through Christ! Please pray for my surrender and victory! Christy
I would not be alive today without God
Health issues and the death of my husband forced me into homelessness. I had nowhere to go! Thank God, Sammy my emotional support animal and I found the New Life VCHC to welcome us. They give us both food, water and a cool environment away from the hot sun. I know I would not be alive today had it not been for the mercy of God! I believe, despite my present circumstances, that He is greater and will deliver both Sammy and I! Lynette
At the age of 73, everything that I thought was reliable and stable in my life crumbled. First, my beloved husband died! Next, I lost 2 of my children! If that was not enough, my sister died, and then my son in law! All this death happened in just 4 years! I was devistated. I was an emotional wreck!
The “other shoe” dropped when I lost my house and became homeless! But the Lord our God promised me out of the ashes of loss and death, that He would resurrect me from the ashes of hopelessness, homelessness, and death into a new life of security, peace, and love!
And He DID!
The Lord provided me with the New Life Evangelistic Center to comfort me and surround me with His loving and caring staff. And God blessed me with my future fiance’!
Today, I am leaving the New Life Evangelistic Center to move into my new house with my new future husband! God redeemed me from the ashes of hopelessness, homelessness, and death into a new life of security, peace, and love! He has restored my life! Hallelujah! Lisa

Jesus Has been punished for your evil deeds, and if you worship and pray to this Jesus and Lord only, He will speak peace to your life and give you a glorious life after death. But this Jesus - the Son of the living God, must first become your personal Savior. Then only can you be assured of an eternal home of great joy and comfort for your soul.
But OH!, the pit of doom and unending fire awaiting those who in this lifetime reject the redeeming love of Jesus. There will be no turning or saving after death. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). “And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:30).
God, in the Holy Bible, warns amply of the impending final judgement of all the earth. In these Holy Scriptures it is prophesied that before that notable day of judgment there will be clear and pronounced signs.
Before His coming there shall be wars and rumors of wars, distress and perplexity of nations - that is, nations will be fighting each other - and seem to find no way of settling their differences of attitudes and opinions.
There shall be earthquakes in various places and pestilences. All these have come into great fulfillment in recent years. Then it also predicts that evil men will become worse and worse. At the same time people will not take the warning but be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. See Matthew 24:6, 7, 12.
Let us remember our just and great Judge will not be influenced by our present wealth or poverty, fame or dishonor, color, race, or creed. Some day we will stand before our great Creator and Lord to be judged whether we received by faith the salvation Christ provided for us on the cross and then obeyed Him and helped those in need (Matthew 25:31-46).
The smoke of the torment of the sinner and ungodly shall go on forever and forever - While at the same time the joys, songs, bliss, and comfort of the redeemed will also be unending in heaven.
Make your choice now! Soon it may be too late. “...Behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2, Matthew 11:28-30). Let Jesus set you free both now and for all eternity.
New Life Evangelistic Center provides the men who are homeless opportunities to receive shelter and training in New Bloomfield, Missouri. Each day the participants start with Bible reading and prayer to help them get on the right path with God. Then the men learn how to work together in many areas. One area is with New Life Charolais Farms, which is located at the Mid-America Care Center. There, the homeless men learn responsibility to feed and water the cattle. In addition to Charolais Farms, there is Missouri Renewable Energy which includes projects such as the Dome Home, Solar Energy, Wind Energy, and Earth Home.
New Bloomfield is also the location for the Here’s Help Radio Network. The radio station broadcasting into New Bloomfield KNLC broadcasts to KNLH in Cedar Hill, MO and KNLN in Vienna, MO as well as KNLP in Potosi, MO and KMRF in Marshfield, MO. At the New Bloomfield training cetner, the homeless men have the opportunity to make a new start in life.
My relationship with the Lord is growing daily. The Mid America Care Center in New Bloomfield is really here for me at this time in my life. I thank God for it being in place. I was facing drugs and alcohol and homelessness and this place steers me clear of it. I thank God this place is here. Steve

I was working and I had my own place until I lost my job. I went through my savings just trying to stay afloat but eventually I couldn’t afford my apartment anymore and I became homeless in Springfield, MO. It was really terrible on the streets! When it rains or it’s really hot there’s no place to go. Then I heard about the Veterans Coming Home Center where they told me about a training program where I could live and work for room and board. It’s really great. I’m really enjoying it and am so thankful for this program. Keith

Since April 2017 the largest low barrier walk in shelter in Mid America has been shut down. As a result, of the city of St. Louis closing the New Life Evangelistic Center at 1411 Locust multitudes have been forced to sleep outside in their cars, vacant buildings or wherever they can lay their heads. The tornado that ripped through North St. Louis May 16th has made this need for shelter even more critical for thousands of men, women and children.
After numerous attempts to get city officials to allow the reopening of 1411 Locust have failed, New Life Evangelistic Center is actively seeking a new location for this shelter that will be available to the homeless. This will be a safe haven where the homeless and hurting will feel safe and secure.
The opening of this low-barrier walk-in shelter for the homeless is much more cost effective than spending up to $100 a night to provide \shelter at local motels. This same $100 could provide shelter
for a homeless person for a month at the NLEC facility, which will give the person in need an opportunity to get a job and move into a home of their own.
The homeless have suffered enough since the closing of the New Life Shelter. Now this suffering is being intensified as a result of the loss of over 3,500 homes due to the May tornado. During the up-coming months NLEC will be actively seeking to acquire a location for a new shelter. New Life is exploring sites like St. Josephine Church and convent building at 18th and Lucas in St. Louis. It is also pursuing other locations and would welcome direction by St. Louis officials as to where it may open its new shelter.
Never before in modern history has the need been greater for a large walk in shelter for the poor and elderly in St. Louis. The destruction of affordable housing resulting from the May 16th tornado, has set the stage for this crisis need for shelter that exists now, and will only grow greater in the months to come.
The city, state and FEMA federal funds presently being offered are far less than what is needed to permanently replace the low-income housing that previously existed. Many who are now living in their cars, hotels, with family members or have moved back into their condemned housing need a shelter they can stay in as they work to rebuild their lives. It is for this reason that New Life Evangelistic Center urgently needs the help of caring individuals to create this shelter for the growing numbers of men, women and children who are experiencing homelessness.
To meet this urgent need, NLEC is working to raise half of the $3,000,000 acquired to renovate a large church and convent building. The total cost for this project is $3,000,000. Half of this amount ($1,500,000) will come from New Life Evangelistic Center selling the 1411 Locust building that was closed in 2017 due to gentrification.
The Safe Haven Campaign Fund has been set up to give caring individuals the opportunity to be a part of this historical movement to open the new shelter. The names of those who give $3,000 or more to the Safe Haven Campaign Fund will have their names placed on the Historical Heroes Wall in the new shelter. You can give by going to www.nlecstl.org or by using the QR code to link to the website using your phone. You can also call (314) 421-3020 to give over the phone to the Safe Haven fund. You can also call to become part of the 24 hour prayer chain.
1411 Locust is a building filled with memories of miracles from the past. Thousands have been directly assisted from that building. The urgency of the moment dictates that we can no longer live in the past but now must move into the future. The homeless trying to survive outside need help now. Please call (314) 421-3020 to give, join the 24 hour prayer chain, and volunteer.
I want to partner with the New Life Evangelistic Center and the Safe Haven Campaign.

I am a Buckeye from Ohio. In July or August of 2023, I got scammed into coming to Missouri to the Fenton area. I was doordashing to make ends meet and sleeping in my car. I was at a park in Fenton one day, and one of the volunteers from New Life Evangelistic Center walked up and gave me a flyer. I took the flyer and said thanks, but no thanks! This was about the beginning of September. I got tired of sleeping in my car, so I called. They said yes, so I came and spent about three days, then decided this wasn’t for me. So, I went back to doordashing.
A few days later, I was making a delivery and turned in front of a car, got hit and totaled my car. I went to the hospital and spent the night to make sure there was nothing major wrong with me. Wondering what do I do now? Realizing I had been scammed and now have no car, no way to make any money, and homeless!
They released me from the hospital. I had them take me to New Life Evangelistic Center in Overland, where I found out they have a policy in place that states if you leave, you must wait six months before you can come back. I talked to Rev. Rice and his grandson, Chris Aaron. They were discussing it when I got stuck on the elevator. The elevator just stopped. I sat down and
said, “What am I gonna do Lord if they don’t let me stay?” I was still pretty much in shock with what happened to me.
Then all of a sudden, the elevator doors open and Rev. Rice was standing there. He asked me if I was ok and I laughed and said yes. He told me , “We weren’t going to let you stay since you were here last week, but I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me and He said, ‘you need to let her stay’. I’m so grateful that Rev. Rice was obedient to the Lord.
A few weeks later I became a part of the women’s Residential Leadership Training Program. Working at New Life in exchange for room and board, going to Bible studies on Mondays with Chris Aaron, going to communion every Wednesday with Rev. Rice, and living with other ladies; that took some getting used to!
This experience has taught me that no one is exempt from homelessness. I was a surgical tech for 32 years and I made great money! But because of what the Lord has done in my life through this experience I am a little less prideful. A little less selfish. A little more giving, and a little more humble!
After being in the Safe House for 22 months, I now have my own place, I’m retired, and volunteering three days a week at New Life Evangelistic Center. Giving back and helping some of the women that are there is a blessing to me. I am blessed beyond measure! Thank you, New Life, for being the bridge. Denise S.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
I was working two jobs when my Mom passed away. I kept making house payments on the house, and for the car my Mom owned, but when the bank/mortgage company found out she had passed, they sold the house and took back the car.
While I was working and paying the house and car payments, my car was stolen out of the driveway. The day I had to be out of the house, I ended up in the hospital with an infection in my leg. It was a bone infection that caused me to be in the hospital for two months!
When it came time for me to be released from the hospital, they gave me a list of resources. New Life Evangelistic Center was on the list and I called their number. I came the next day from the hospital and have been staying in a Safe House and working in the Residential Leadership Training Program since then.
The hardest part of this whole process was being super independent and then having to live in
community with other women and needing help with everything. The best part was learning new skills while getting to know the ladies I lived with and becoming more patient.
I’ve started working again and am moving out of the Safe House and into my own place. This will allow another woman in need to have a place to come to. I also praise God for New Life Evangelistic Center because of everything they have helped me accomplish while here. I am also thankful for everything they have done for me, and the opportunities that they have given me. I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met while at New Life from the staff, the program participants, the volunteers and donors. Taylor
“Be
strong and courageous. Do not
be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NIV
I came to New Life Evangelistic Center with my five-year-old daughter after a series of tragic events that ended with my car being stolen. I had nowhere to turn. I was referred to New Life Evangelistic Center by Alive (another shelter).
I was welcomed at New Life with open arms, care, compassion and lots of support. My journey has not been easy, but with God by my side, I have been able to reflect on past decisions I made. I prayed about it, and felt that coming to New Life was a part of God’s plan and I should submit.
When I first came to New Life I started off making sandwiches (sack lunches) and got to know the women who are also in the Safe House. Eventually, I moved over to preparing Cry Justice Now letters for inmates, which I loved. Then, I started keeping the NLEC TV App updated and creating and posting social media content.
New Life Evangelistic Center is a safe haven for women and children to readjust how they live their lives. It is bringing Jesus into their lives. NLEC helps homeless women build their relationship with God allowing time for healing and for God to reveal what their next steps will be.
There is no place like it in the Bi-State area. New Life is the bridge that brings God to the ones who have been forgotten and abandoned in society.
I can attest that every dollar donated to New Life Evangelistic Center is being utilized to support and uplift the women in this program and all of the homeless people who are struggling on the streets.
In real life, people’s lives are being changed due to the work of the New Life Safe Houses. They see and receive help from New Life on a daily basis. For the mass majority of homeless people living outside, when they see New Life or our partners and volunteers, they know that they are there to help and take action. Destiny D.
NLEC is in the final stages of remodeling a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom home—one of the largest and most beautiful Safe Houses New Life has ever opened. Once finished, it will become a life-saving refuge for mothers and children who have nowhere else to turn.
NOW YOU are needed to help finish it.
This house isn’t just walls and windows. It’s a sacred space. A place where:
• A mother can tuck her children into a warm bed without fear.
• A woman who has been abused can finally rest in safety.
• Daily Bible studies, counseling, and prayer will help women rebuild their lives in Christ.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18-19 NIV) I’ve grown up in quite a unique situation. New Life Evangelistic Center has been a multi-racial community that names and opposes racism for years. I’ve always lived around men and women of color all my life and was raised to understand that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. But, I remember one incident, on a march for the homeless from St. Louis to Jefferson City when I was around 12 years old that helped me understand the reality of my whiteness differently.
Our group had stopped in a local park along the way, I don’t remember the township, but it was along I-70 and it was a rural area. During the march some cars had driven by and thrown trash at marchers and yelled racial slurs at the black marchers. One white man had slowed down and issued a threat to the African Americans to keep walking and not stop or he would be back to hurt them. I didn’t hear the threats myself personally. I only heard about them as the men were talking.
Then I opened up my mouth and said, “Oh come on! You are making too much of this! People say stuff all the time. They won’t really do it! I think you’ve talked yourself into a frenzy.” I turned and said to my friend, who was a very tall and large African American photographer, “I’ll bet if someone showed them a plastic knife they’d get upset.”
My friend was not amused. He got really quite angry and proceeded to explain to me, because I obviously didn’t know, how real this racist incident was for the the marchers. I had no business as a white kid telling them not to be afraid. It wasn’t me getting the threats! That moment really stuck with me. I had to look at my own whiteness in a new and uncomfortable way. I had to recognize that I could never understand threats and violence the same way my fellow marchers understood it, and that minimizing their fear was, in a very real way, reaffirming the power of the wicked aggression present.
So long as I maintain the illusion that we’re all equal here, I blind myself from the reality of their experience.
What does repenting of the sin of racism look like? An apology is at best an acknowledgment that real wrong has occurred. This is important, but only a first step. No matter our upbringing, no matter how many friends of color we have, none of us are immune from the sin of racism. We whites have our own set of expectations and norms for this country, and we expect things to look, well, white. Anything that deviated from that norm makes us uncomfortable. Realizing that is only the beginning in naming our illusions, of confessing our sins against a holy God, and toward our brothers and sisters in Christ here and around the world.
Confronting this sin is the only path to healing and reconciliation in our country. Walking in repentance means that our churches will look very different, like, less white only. Sunday morning is still the most segregated hour in America. There is no way for Jesus Christ to use us to be a light to the nations so long as all our major associations are by default with only other white people. There is no way for us to understand God in all His beauty when we assume He looks, acts, and thinks like European Americans. Our Lord was not and is not as lily white as the popular depictions of Him.
Continued on Page 17
The walk of repentance means that our churches have to be places of welcome for all other people and that we have to begin to challenge white control, singular control. Jesus had twelve disciples and they each had a different way of doing things. No one of them tried to wrestle control away from the others. I can’t help but believe that real unity comes with surrender.
The only way to be reconciled with one another as persons, is to follow Christ’s way of the cross and self-emptying. Being right is not necessary to follow Jesus, but being humble is. Humility means submitting to one another’s wills out of love for Christ.
The longer I live, the more I realize that repentance to me means really listening, really being present, and really accepting that my way is not the only way. That I don’t have the complete picture of truth. Dismantling white power in the church will happen as we confess our sins to one another and pray to be healed. I confess that my whiteness, my power, my privilege are no salvation in this life. Where I lean on these I deny Christ.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.” I John 4:7-12
When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I started praising God with a heavenly prayer language I had never experienced before. The word had become flesh and dwelt within me in a new and powerful way. As the Holy Spirit moved in my inner being I became convinced that God loved me and had a plan for my life. I was so excited about Jesus and His love that I wanted to tell everybody about it.
Now I want to invite you to come and drink of this living water that Christ provides. Receive the power from on high, for He has promised in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.”
Experiencing this power involves first accepting Jesus as Lord and Christ in every area of life. In John 14:6 He declares, “No one comes to the Father but by Me.” Acts 4:12 declares, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men (and women) by which we must be saved.”
Our Helper the Holy Spirit directs us to Jesus Christ, “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority” (Col.2:9, 10).
Unless you experience this fullness, you will feel dry, dead, and alone like Ezekiel did in that valley of dried dead bones (Ezekiel 37). If you are feeling that way, I would encourage you to pick up your Bible, get alone with God in the wonders of His creation, and ask Him to send the Holy Spirit to fill you with the fullness of Christ.
As Jurgen Moltmans states, “The whole creation is a fabric woven by the Spirit and is therefore a reality to which the Spirit gives form.”
When we go in the midst of God’s creation and see how the Holy Spirit has breathed life into every living creature, tree and flower we not only witness the glory of God, but this creation also joins us in the midst of our suffering. Romans 8:22-23 says, “We know that the whole creation
has been groaning in travail together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” (RSV)
Much of the groaning, the hurt, the pain, the suffering is a result of the seeds of sin that have planted in the past. Let Jesus pull the weeds of bitterness and resentment up and plant His seeds of love and hope in your life.
Galatians 6:7-10 gives us the Spiritual insight that we see in every form of vegetation around us. “Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men (and women), and especially to those who are of the household of faith” (RSV).
Let us not lose heart but instead do good and bring forth the fruits of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-26 points out that the “Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; against such there is no law. And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us have no self-conceit, no provoking of one another, no envy of one another” (RSV).
May our prayer be at this time, “Create in me a clean heart, O God and put a new and right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10 RSV). This creation of a clean heart will take place in us when we let the Holy Spirit renew us as He did to the earth in Genesis 1:2 where it says, “The earth was without form and void and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”

Experiencing the Spirit that Brings Life to Dry Dead Bones
continued from page 18
Genesis 1:2 shows the Holy Spirit moved continually over the waters like a mother bird hovering or fluttering over her young in a vibrant protective way. The Holy Spirit is also like a caring mother, who is sharing, protecting, and comforting.
She is the Helper for radical equality for all people as we read in Joel 2:28-32. There God has promised, “I will pour out My Spirit on all people.” This includes the weak, the powerless, and the hopeless. They are recipients of a new life through the love of God and the power of the Helper, the Holy Spirit.
Those who are crushed to the extent that they are no longer able to dream dreams or see visions or prophecy hope are promised, “I will pour out My Spirit on all people, your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men see visions. Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:2829).
You may presently be facing what seems like overwhelming difficulties. Don’t give up, give those problems to Jesus and continue to move forward with the help of the Holy Spirit. In the end you will see the Holy Spirit do exceedingly beyond what you can ask or think! It is a guarantee signed, sealed, and delivered through the blood of Jesus Christ, who cleanses you of all sin.
Now let us receive the promise that God gives in Ezekiel 36:25, 26 when he says, “I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
As the promise of Ezekiel 36 unfolds in your life you will find the heart of stone, that reflected indifference to the needs of others, begins to melt and a new caring heart is created.
We see this miracle unfolding in Ezekiel 37 as the Spirit comes upon a valley of dry, dead bones. When this happens, life comes into these bones, and an army of compassionate people comes forth.
Let us now ask God to send the Helper, the Holy Spirit upon us in a new and powerful way. She will strengthen us as She brings forth order out of the chaos and stress of daily living.
At this time may our prayer be, “Heavenly Father, please send the Holy Spirit. Come, my promised Helper. Fill me with the power from on high. Guide me, direct me and empower me so that I may be an instrument of healing and hope in the lives of the hurting and homeless. Precious Jesus, please replace the fear in my life with faith that I may be filled with the holy boldness that came upon Peter in Acts 4:8 and the other believers in Acts 4:31.

Mona who directs the work there writes, “In Haiti help is urgently needed. We have four schools and the teachers do not have a salary. We need some people to help us, so we can have some money for the teachers for the children’s education.
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, the kingdom is for them.” He also said, “I was hungry and you did not feed me.”
Help us please with those needs we have.
First, we need to buy twelve beds and twelve mattresses for them to sleep.
We also have need of clothing and shoes. Our specific needs are to feed the kids every day. The hunger is so strong now.
We have altogether 290 children to educate and feed every day.
We receive no government assistance for the past many years. God is our hope for everything.

Life is Not a Duration It is a Donation
According to the Scripture, there is NO LIMIT to the Power of Prayer. In I Thessalonians 5:17 we are told to “Pray Without Ceasing”.
• We need to know the power of prayer as we pray. In Mark 11:22-25 we see that faith can move mountains.
• In John 15:7-8 we see that as we remain in Christ and let His words remain in us, we can ask and receive.
• Please get two or three others to agree with you for both the needs you are facing along with NLEC’s need for a Miracle. Matthew 18:19-20 tells us that when two or three agree in prayer it shall be done.
• When praying believe that God hears you and believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer according to Matthew 21:22.
• Please pray that God will provide the strength for all the NLEC Staff to go safely through all those things that will happen according to Luke 21:34-36.
• As we pray let us pray for those who persecute the hurting and homeless as directed in Matthew 5:43-45.
• Jesus clearly tells us as we pray for the needed miracle for NLEC to open a large shelter, to ASK and recive, KNOCK and the door will be opened, and to SEEK and we will find.
Maybe you’re one of those feeling like you and God are beyond connection, that there are things you’ve done in your life that have driven God far away and made it so that you are beyond redemption. You might be feeling like so many dried old bones and there’s no way you could ever come alive again or come to faith again.
Titus 2:11-14 says, “For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as His own, eager to do what is good.”(NABRE)
We have a promise that “if we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) Also remember, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2) Now you have a choice. You can go on believing that you are beyond redemption and be miserable, or you can believe what God’s Word says about you, namely that In Christ you are saved, delivered, cleansed, not condemned, freed from sin and good.
Do you want to acknowledge your sins now and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and his power to save you? You can. Pray now: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need you to make me whole. I give my life to you, knowing that you can and will save me. I thank you for forgiving me of my sins and freeing me from the law of sin and death.
If you’ve prayed this prayer today, please write to us at New Life Evangelistic Center, PO Box 473, St. Louis, MO 63166.
We would like to send you a copy of the book, “Why Am I Here?” by Larry and Chris Aaron Rice.
My name is Terrance . I want to thank you for your newspaper, “New Life ZOA Free Paper 2.0”. It was an eye opening insight on daily struggles that any-given person may face. Yet, it also revealed in the midst of it all, God is always working, willing to share His light and love to who--so-ever my receive.
Thefore, God bless you all and may you continue to fight the good fight of faith. He’s Got You!
God May speak by giving us peace deep inside of us. He may give a creative idea. I spent 14 and a half years behind bars. One of the most refreshing realities of being in prison was the fact that no one could hide that they were broken and in need of redemption. Prior to my arrest and incarceration I lacked sympathy for the imprisoned. Out of sight of out of mind. But when the shoe is on the other foot as the old saying goes, I became aware of the fact that there are no bad people only bad choices. Prison has given me pause to reflect, reevaluate and look at many previously held views in a totally new way. I would say that yes it has helped me to forgive for how can I deny forgiveness when I seek the same forgiveness from others. New Hope. New Mind. You have to keep praying.
