Excellence Through Education
Alamar is building a better neighborhood that impacts residents’ lives on every level—including education. At the core of the community is a planned new K–8 school designed to enhance the curriculum of the local school system. Anticipated to open in the fall of 2023, the Alamar school will utilize a recognized College Preparatory curriculum.
The 21-acre future school site is envisioned to serve as a place for education as well as outdoor activities, with six acres dedicated to public sports fields and recreational spaces. This safe and secure community school leaves neighborhood children free to explore and discover new friendships in welcoming green spaces designed especially for them.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PUBLIC SCHOOL, A CHARTER SCHOOL AND A PRIVATE SCHOOL?
Every school has its own personality, focus, traditions and reputation in the community. School choice is based on academic offerings, athletics, mission and vision of the school.
Public schools are universal, and available to everyone. Public schools and high schools are funded and controlled by The United States Department of Education on the federal level, state-level departments of education and by the school district at the local level. Each school district sets the curricula, funding and employment for schools within their boundaries, with direction from the state.
Charter schools are independently managed, tuition-free schools, that are state-funded in a manner that is distinct from how traditional schools are funded. Charter schools operate under a “charter” or a contract between the school and the state or jurisdiction, allowing for autonomy and flexibility. In Arizona, charter schools serve more than 190,000 students across the state.
Private schools are not funded or operated by federal, state or local governments. They are not paid for by public tax dollars and are not subject to the regulations that govern public schools. At private schools, students pay tuition to attend.
HOW CAN I ACCESS MORE INFORMATION?
It is always best to contact the school district or the individual school directly for information concerning enrollment, district boundaries, or the status of individual schools.
