New Hope Film Festival, Ltd., 6542-A Lower York Rd., #219, New Hope, PA 18938

June 7, 2020 Greetings from the New Hope Film Festival! We are launching this Program Guide to highlight worthwhile projects that we accepted this year, but before we delve more into that matter I would like to take a moment to express deep sympathy and concern for everyone who is suffering amidst a global pandemic, injustices and social unrest. Normally, I would not comment on such newsrelated matters here in the Guide, but we feel it’s appropriate when we have postponed our screenings to July 2021 over such concerns. The New Hope Film Festival has always been known as an up event, and even the turmoil of 2020 will not get us down. In this Program Guide, you will find 41 films from 8 countries and a wonderful group of 17 scripts. Instead of hosting our annual gala event, we will announce the jury awards in a Variety digital publication at Cannes Film Festival on June 28th, then follow up with the full list of winners and nominees on our blog. We wish you all the best as you navigate these challenging times and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Stay safe, D. F. Whipple President and Founder New Hope Film Festival

COVID-19 Statement: The New Hope Film Festival’s top priority throughout our event is to provide a safe environment in which people can gather together to appreciate cinematic works. We also want to give filmmakers an opportunity to network and draw inspiration for future career growth.

With these objectives in mind, the Festival’s organizers will announce rules and processes designed to mitigate the risk of infectious disease transmission. Because public health guidelines have changed, for example wear a mask vs. no mask, and different phases of re-opening require different protocols, we will wait until advance tickets go on sale in June 15, 2021 to announce our rules and the measures we are taking to ensure safety for our audiences.

Stay safe and healthy! We look forward to seeing you at the movies!

Festival Tip: To join our online community, one of the best options is to Like us on Facebook, where you are invited to leave comments. Our Facebook address is https:// www.facebook.com/ newhopefilmfestival/

Festival Insight: The inspiration behind NHFF’s annual Animal Welfare Award, an honor first bestowed on The Trouble with Wolves (Collin Monda, USA) in July 2018, is President and Founder Doug Whipple’s beloved dachshund Nodie, who passed away at the advanced age of 16 years 7 months on June 21, 2018.

Nodie was known for his awareness of the world around him, concern for his family and friends, affection, playfulness and love of life. He once caught part of a show at the Festival and he loved walking the sidewalks of New Hope. He also had a mischievous side. Nodie preferred living life on his terms; he had a long track record of getting his way, one way or another. We wish more animals, both wild and domestic, could live such a joyous and protected life.

This is our hope behind the award.
