For international travel, the DLR will have you in London City Airport in under 40 minutes, and while Gatwick is reachable in less than an hour, Stansted and Heathrow will take around 90 minutes.

Dawn breaks, and already residents are making their way to Motiv8.

At any hour of the day, a 24m pool full of turquoise water is appealing, but it is particularly popular for early morning workouts. The gym, packed full of high tech equipment, also opens early, but since the fitness centre is exclusively for the use of OneSE8 residents, it never gets overcrowded.

At around 6am, the concierge receives his first call of the day, which could be anything from ordering a taxi to organising a caterer for a party that evening. Offering an exceptional 24hr service, sourcing travel tickets, receiving deliveries and arranging for dry cleaning to be collected, many residents rely on him to help them run their lives.

Lunchtime sees some of the residents sunning themselves in the central courtyard. The Manhattan Apartments

comprise two individual buildings, the Brooklyn and the Hudson, separated by the Travelodge hotel. Both overlook the courtyard and benefit from its landscaped tranquility, while the constantly burbling water feature makes for a very relaxing atmosphere.

By 6pm, the convenience store is gearing up for its customary early evening rush. Although continually busy throughout the day, with trade from the on-site live work units, many residents pay a visit after work to buy fresh produce for their supper.

Alternatively, the hotel bar can rustle up something appetising.

Eventually, the day draws to a close, curtains are drawn, and lights are dimmed. The last bathers and gymaddicts throw in their towels and head home to bed. The concierge checks his list and prepares for a new day.
