An ancient market town with community feel The historic market town of Fenny Stratford is the perfect place for a happy and secure retirement. Located on the South East edge of the vibrant new town of Milton Keynes, Fenny Stratford offers something for everyone. With its small shopping high street, there’s a real community feel to the town.

The Grand Union Canal runs through the southern outskirts of the town and the picturesque Fenny Lock is located minutes away as well as other nature spots such as Caldecote Lake, perfect for a summer afternoon stroll.

The town name is old English language for ‘marshy ford on a Roman Road’ and there are traces of the Roman settlement Magiovinium on the edge of the present day occupation. One of the oldest known gold coins in Britain was found here.

Being an ancient market place, Fenny Stratford was the host of a weekly market for many years and was home to the invention of the world’s first successful heavy oil engine.

Why I am glad to have made the move to McCarthy & Stone Everyone has been so kind here and I’ve already made lots of new friends.
