From the little things, like knowing the nearest place to pick up a pint of milk, to the bigger things like choosing the right school or finding a health centre nearby. You need to know that the community you’re moving to will support you and your family, as well as be a pleasant place to live. So, here’s some useful information about the area around Badger’s Dene.

Outdoor activities The countryside to the west of Kidderminster, within around three miles of Badger’s Dene, offers a diversity of activities, from sailing or enjoying the wildlife and woodland at Trimpley Reservoir – celebrated for its rich bird life – to the endless fascination of Wyre Forest, one of the largest tracts of seminatural woodland in England. As well as offering miles of terrain to explore, Wyre Forest has a National Nature Reserve and a visitor centre. And for more lively exercise, Brinton Park, close to the town centre, has excellent skate-park facilities.

Sport and leisure There are several gyms and fitness clubs within walking distance of Badger’s Dene, including the Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre, recently refurbished, which incorporates a leisure pool with wave machines and flumes, squash courts, a comprehensively equipped, airconditioned gym, sauna and steam rooms, and an eight-court sports hall.

A little over a mile to the west of the development, the Ramada Hotel includes a Sebastian Coe Health Club with an indoor swimming-pool, a gym, sauna, solarium, steam room and spa. The Kidderminster Golf Club on the eastern edge of the town, now approaching its centenary, has a mature 18-hole parkland course that makes challenging use of a succession of natural hazards.

From the westernmost roundabout of Roman Way, join the A4133 following signs for Ombersley. Just after the road passes beneath the A449 flyover and enters Ombersley, at the roundabout take the third exit and carry straight to on merge with the A449. Stay on the A449 for around seven and a half miles, following signs for Kidderminster. Entering Kidderminster, pass under a railway bridge and at the next roundabout take the first exit into Stourport Road (A451). At the traffic lights around 700 yards on, turn right into Sutton Road and approximately half a mile on turn right into Hume Street. Take the next left into Franchise Street, and the entrance to Badger’s Dene is on the right.

Leave Birmingham by the A456 (Hagley Road, Hadley Road West, Quinton Expressway and Manor Road), passing through Hagley and Blaketown. Enter Kidderminster by Birmingham Road and carry straight on to the Coventry Street Roundabout, and take the third exit to enter The Ringway, travelling anticlockwise.

Stay on The Ringway through the next roundabout and through the subsequent traffic-lights, crossing the River Stour and entering Park Butts Ringway. Take the second exit at the next roundabout to enter Bewdley Road, then take the third left turn into Crescent Road. At the T-junction, turn right into Woodfield Crescent then first left into Franchise Street. The entrance to Badger’s Dene is the first turning on the left.
