There are a selection of shops nearby on Rowan Road and Manor Road, and the Canons Leisure Centre in Mitcham has a swimming pool and facilities for all kinds of sport and fitness. Cricket has been played on Mitcham Green since 1685 and it’s likely that Mitcham Fair has been held there even longer.

Mitcham is very popular with parents for its wide choice of state primary and secondary schools, several within easy reach of Rowan Park.

Mitcham Common is an ancient feature and has been in the careful hands of its conservators for over a century, so that it is now a protected wild expanse of grassland and woods, with Seven Island Ponds its special feature. Mitcham Golf Course also forms part of it, but whether you play or not, the Common is a marvellous local resource for everyone to enjoy.

Other centres easily reached from Rowan Park include Wimbledon, Clapham, Battersea and Croydon.

Wimbledon has excellent shopping and numerous restaurants on The Broadway, with luxury brands and chic eateries in Wimbledon Village. There are theatres in Wimbledon too, a large Odeon cinema, and green open space on Wimbledon Common.

Northcote Road and Battersea Rise in Clapham are perfect for soaking up the sun in one of the street cafĂŠs or bars. There are also some fantastic drinking venues and restaurants in nearby Battersea, as well as along the cobbled streets of Wandsworth, which also hosts a popular Cineworld cinema.

Connected all round Train, car or tram, everything is within easy reach Rowan Park is perfectly placed for reaching London, for travel all over the South East and for international connections.

Mitcham Junction station also offers some useful connections.

As part of the Thameslink network it has services to Wimbledon, Blackfriars and Kings Cross, and much further north into Hertfordshire.

The daily commute is easy, as is getting to the West End and back for an evening out. Mitcham Eastfields station is within walking distance from Rowan Park with direct services to Victoria and Blackfriars. Alternatively a bus service travels from Rowan Park to Norbury station, for trains to Victoria and London Bridge in under half an hour.

Mitcham blossomed as a residential area when tram services arrived in the 1930s. Now the tram is back, providing an alternative way to travel between Wimbledon and Croydon and out into Surrey. Mitcham Junction is a key station on the tram link with short journey times of 17 minutes to East Croydon and 11 minutes to Wimbledon. Both destinations are places of work as well as being well supplied with good shops, restaurants,

cinema and theatre; making the tram link a very useful one.

If you’re driving, the A23, about a mile from Rowan Park, is a major route into and out of London. Going south, it will take you to junction 7 of the M25, which is the interchange with the M23.

This means both Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are within easy range for business travel or when holidays beckon. Stay on the M23 for cosmopolitan Brighton and the rest of the south coast: the perfect summer day out.
