Year 7 Talk 2 Learn
Rokeby School Awards
The Science, MCFL and PE departments prepared students for this term’s cross-curricular Talk 2Learn debate for which the motion put forward was ‘Football is essential to global happiness’. It was an interesting and lively discussion watched online by the whole of Year 7; it was chaired by Ms Cates and carefully judged by Ms Ward, Ms Jenkins, Mr Smith and Ms Eshun We also had the privilege of being joined by Mr Cole, the Assistant Headteacher at Chingford Foundation School, who spoke very highly of the participants and presented the winning students with their awards
Both sides of the debate put forward well-constructed and clear arguments but in the end it was the representatives of 7ROK who claimed the trophy (pictured left to right): Madasir 7R, Luca 7K, Tomiwa 7R and Saud 7O. The ‘Best Speaker’ award was given to Ace 7B for his outstanding argument on racism in football and for his confident delivery Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part!
