We must continue to work together

In September I wrote to all parents explaining our expectations on mobile phones and electronic devices at Rokeby School. We know that mobile phones and other electronic devices negatively affect concentration and can lead to fatigue, headaches, anxiety and other mental health concerns. We also know that social media (X, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat) can be a huge distraction and can be used to cause hurt and promote negativity if not used responsibly. This is why we need to work together.

We understand that you may want your son to have a phone travelling to and from school for safety reasons. With that in mind, we offer all our students the opportunity to hand their devices and valuables into reception every morning so that they are safe but not a distraction. Many phones and devices are very expensive and handing them in at reception ensures that they are kept safe throughout the day. Please encourage your son to do this and make it a good habit.

If it is not handed in, devices must be switched off and put in school bags (not in blazers and trouser pockets). If at any point in the day you need to contact your son or he needs to contact you, this can happen through our school reception. If you have any questions, please get in touch to discuss by email info@rokeby.ncltrust.net or phone 0207 540 5620.

Routes into Languages

Last week we hosted the regional final on the Routes into Languages Spelling Bee - a UK network inspiring students to learn languages. Our students were fantastic throughout the competition and we are delighted to announce that we will be going to the national final in Cambridge in June. Well done everyone.

On Friday 28 March we held a practise fire drill. This is vital in schools to ensure that all students, staff and visitors know where to assembly and what to do if the fire alarm goes off. It was very positive and I am very proud of how our students behaved throughout. Please ask your son about it.
