Y10 Pinsent Masons Debate
"Going to Pinsent Masons was a one of a kind experience. I enjoyed watching and participating in the debates as you learn about different topics and for your own opinions on them. It will really help with your confidence, personal speaking ability and also research skills." - Rildwan 10B
"On Friday 29th November, seven Y10 students took part in the Pinsent Masons debate. They did a brilliant job at representing the school and judges spoke very highly of their teamwork, confident delivery, and how well-researched their arguments were. They had the challenging task of arguing against the motion that "facial recognition is an unacceptable breach of privacy" , and should be very proud of themselves for rising to the challenge
A massive well done to the seven students who took part: Mohammad-Safwan ALAM, David ANEA, Jacob CHWOROSTOWSKI, Taylor JOHN-BAPTIST, Rildwan OLADOSU, Kalvin THAKKAR and David XUE. A special thank you to Ms Thomas for supporting the visit and being a warm and encouraging presence throughout the day. Congratulations to the students at Lister for winning our heat and the debate!"

Maths Master Class at

On Wednesday, 4th December 17 students from Y10 went to Newham Sixth Form college (NewVIc) to take part in a Maths masterclass. It involved two tasks: core maths and A levels.
The activities were fun and engaging. We thought the experience was very good We learnt how to estimate in everyday life For example we were given the question “how much water is contained in 1 billion tears?”
The experience was helpful as it gave us an insight into college life. It also showed us how challenging maths can be once we leave school.
Thank you to Ms Fashola and Mr Sarumi for helping us with this visit.

Nutrition Kitchen Finale!
The Nutrition Kitchen competition took place this week at the East Ham Leisure centre
The boys were very enthusiastic. Maekael and Tanim (Y8) did very well competing against KS4 students from other schools. Their behaviour, attitude and enthusiasm were outstanding and they were so proud to represent Rokeby School.

Miss Koomson

As we are approaching the end of the year we would like to remind all parents/carers and students of the importance of school attendance.
Regular attendance is linked to academic success. Every lesson counts towards your child’s overall progress and the absence of even a few days can create gaps in learning that are difficult to fill.
Please also ensure your child attends school on time as missing essential registration activities and assemblies affects their understanding of building healthy relationships, British Values and careers. Y11 students also cover revision and study skills during this time.
We also want to remind parents/carers that taking holidays during term time is disruptive to learning. While we understand the desire for family holidays, we request you to plan holidays during the school breaks. Please ensure you inform the school in advance of term time leave.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions regarding any of the above, please contact the Attendance Team .
