Extra curricular activities at Eastlea

Eastlea girls’ football team played their last game of the season on Wednesday, 14th May beating Little Ilford School 3-0. The girls put in an amazing performance showing resilience to the end. The team started with just two members and has gradually grown. The girls have shown commitment to their training and have made me proud with their participation in fixtures, finishing just outside of the top three in the league.

Year 10 Work Experience

As part of our careers offer, we have taking all the Year 10 students to visit a workplace to see how they run, what jobs are available and what skills they would need to start a career in this field.

On 16th May, students visited Leyton Orient Football Club where students were able to have a tour around the (hopefully promoted) club as well as listen to talks from a PR and coach who work in the club. They were then given 3 workshops:

● Team dilemmas where students had to brainstorm how to deal with certain players or situations as a coach or a manager;

● How to cope in the Championship - how to alter the stadium or what a new stadium would contain.

● Advertisement - how to advertise the new success of the club - what would be the key messages you would need to share to expand the club.

Students then had to present their ideas to the rest of the group and articulate their points of view and why these ideas would be the best for the club.

Also on 16th May, students visited Linklaters Law Firm in Liverpool Street. On 20th May, students visited Sadlers Wells East in Stratford. Whilst there they were able to:

● Have a tour of both workplaces and see what different roles there are within the businesses

● Speak with professionals in the industries and ask them questions about their day to day tasks and their route into this sector

● Engage in work scenario based tasks

Our Y10 students were the perfect representatives for our school. They asked insightful questions, engaged fully in the tasks and showed how well mannered and polite they are.
