Year 8 History students have been busy visiting the London Museum’s Docklands site over the last 3 months. Each tutor group has been given the opportunity to take part in a trip to the 'Sugar, salt and slavery' exhibiiton to enrich their understanding of the history surrounding England’s involvement in the slave trade, its abolition and legacy. Students were also able to gain awareness of local history by learning about the docks and their changing use over time. Albert Stefanita (8M) said "The trip was an amazing opportunity to help me further understand things about the slave trade that I did not know before - the exhibition helped me expand my learning" Issac Wizzart (8M) said "Sugar cane was a luxury product which the rich people from England bought for a high price, this fuelled the slave trade" Students were impeccably behaved, staff at the museum went so far as to comment positively on their mature and respectful conduct - well done year 8 History students. Thank you to all staff involved for making the trip run so smoothly, it was a real success. Ms Hoy, Head of History
