A Midsummer Night’s Dream This week, the Year 6 production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ was performed in the Eaton Theatre. All of the cast were exceptional; with beautiful singing and outstanding acting from all. Thank you to all of the parents, family and friends that came to watch the production—we hope that you enjoyed it as much as everyone enjoyed taking part! SCIENCE EXTRAVAGANZA! The Year 5 and 6 Science Fair took place last week. The pupils had previously submitted ideas for a stall and eight groups were then selected to present information on different areas of science. The rest of the Preparatory School attended the fair and were introduced to aerodynamics, water density, friction, reactions, the human body and eyes. The Year 5 and 6 pupils were complimented on their effort and the scientific knowledge they conveyed when answering questions. ‘Cuckoo Chemistry’ from Year 6 were announced as this year’s winners in Assembly today.

This week, the Mad Science team came to visit and entertained everyone with an exciting Whole School Assembly. The pupils learnt about physical and chemical reactions and discovered just how dangerous icing sugar can be! The children then attended a workshop focussing either on ‘Electricity’ or ‘Light and Sound’. Lots of scientific learning took place in a fun and entertaining way. ISLAM DAY

On Monday, as part of our RE curriculum the Preparatory School held a day focussed on Islam. We were very fortunate that three members of the local Muslim community were able to come and share their traditions and beliefs with us. We began the day with a whole school assembly which involved learning more about Islam and its background as well as a short recitation from the Qur’an. Following this, there were class workshops to help pupils gain an additional insight in to Islam. Children were able to ask specific questions that linked to their Islam focus and explore different artefacts.
