LS&K Identity Guidelines
Version 01 — March 2016

A brand is more than just a logo or a corporate identity system. A brand is a person’s gut feeling about an organisation, from clients and competitors, to staff and partners. While we can never fully control what everyone thinks of Lacy Scott & Knight, we can exert a degree of influence by deciding what we stand for as an organisation, how we differ from our competitors, and then communicating these values in a consistent and focused way.

These brand guidelines begin the process of defining what Lacy Scott & Knight stands for internally and externally, what our values and characteristics are, and what makes us different or superior to our competitors.

It also provides visual guidelines to ensure a level of quality and consistency throughout our visual communications.

As we enter a new chapter in our history – and look to an exciting future – it is important for us to continue to present ourselves as an enthusiastic group of property and auction experts. We need to project and maintain a consistent and distinctive identity in the marketplace.

Over the past 130 years, Lacy Scott & Knight has established itself as one of the East of England’s leading property consultants and fine art auctioneers. We have gained recognition for our professional standards while offering our clients an exceptional personalised service.

We must all ensure that the representation of our brand and the basic elements of our identity are always used coherently and correctly.

This ‘Our Brand Rules’ document outlines a number of fundamental areas of importance to ensure that the look and feel of all our communications complements our brand values and ethos of doing business.

We have an excellent reputation for the quality of our multidisciplinary work. By adhering to these guidelines we will ensure that our identity stays strong and we promote a consistent image to our audiences across all of our communications.

Our Primary Logotype

The LSK logotype is the most recognisable brand asset.

It is therefore vital that it is always applied consistently wherever it appears.

Wherever possible use the primary logotype ensuring that it has clear standout for maximum impact.

The minimum logotype size is 20mm across.

Exclusion Zone

An exclusion zone exists around the logotype to help protect it’s clarity and to ensure it communicates effectively.

• Nothing should encroach within this space as it would effect the visibility of the logotype.

• The exclusion zone surrounds the logotype and is the half the height of the LSK logotype block ‘x’.

Other Logotypes

Black Logotype

Alternative versions of the logo can be used when required.

White Logotype

• When using the logotype on our primary red a white logotype may be used that incorporates a white keyline.

• Always use the logotypes from the master versions provided.

Our Service Line

Our logotype can be shown with our service line where appropriate. There are two versions: one with the line directly below the logotype block and another with the line stacked to the right of the logotype block.

• Always use the logotypes from the master versions provided.

• The minimum logotype size with the service line directly below is 65mm across.

Primary Typeface

Gill Sans is our primary typeface and should used for all communications.

Gill Sans is a humanist sans serif with some geometric touches in its structures. It also has a distinctly British feel. Legible and modern –the lighter weights work for text, and the bolder weights make for compelling display typography. It sits sympathetically with our logotype and secondary typeface: Adobe Garamind Pro

It is an Adobe Originals design, and Adobe’s first historical revival, Adobe Garamond is a digital interpretation of the roman types of Claude Garamond and the italic types of Robert Granjon.
