The most traditional of our artists at New Concept Gallery, Linda Petersen renders the distinct landscapes of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona in warm, rich tones. Her oil paintings convey the beauty of the American southwest with grace, showcasing our adobe architecture, crystalline blue skies, sculpted rock formations and oasis-like river valleys to perfection.
Petersen earned her B.F.A. in Denver in 2001, and spent two summers painting in Italy. Her small plein air studies and larger studio works show a European influence, flavored by her years spent savoring the extraordinary landscapes of the Four Corners region. The works featured in Seasons of the Southwest pay homage to the constantly changing play of light, shadow and color that makes this area so unique.
