Get running for a great cause The Epilepsy Support Group of Newcastle is gearing up for this year’s City2Surf, as part of team Epilepsy Action, and is hoping that this year’s run will be its biggest and best yet. But, they need your help. The group currently has 17 Gold Places available, which come with a minimum fundraising
target of $1,000. In return for their commitment, each participant/ fundraiser will receive free race entry. An exclusive starting position, a fundraising medal, a free Epilepsy Action running pack and free race day photographs. The July exhibition at Miss Porter’s House – Newcastle’s only National Trust House – will celebrate the contribution of the Porters to Newcastle society and commerce. The Porters ran a general store in Hunter Street until 1919, and continued as residents there until the death of
Miss Hazel Porter in 1997. The House is located at 434 King Street, Newcastle West (between Steel and Union Streets) and is open from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm. Admission: $8 adults, $20 family, $5 pensioners and children five years and over. Free to National Trust Members and children under five.
