Known for selecting contemporary art and craft of the highest quality, the gallery team has handpicked artists and makers from across the country.

The exhibition presents glass, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture, prints and paintings by very talented established and emerging artists.

A specially selected collection of ceramics, glass, jewellery and textiles - a must-see for gifts and special occasions.

All work is handmade, making it unique and perfect for those looking for that special Christmas gift! Find unusual gifts as well as inspiration on everything from original printmaking to unique British jewellery designs.

Highlights include: Embroidered and screenprinted textiles by Nook of the North and Miesje Chafer, stunning glass baubles by the very popular Will Shakspeare, quirky playful ceramics objects by Makiko Hastings and Isobel Higley and colourful, cutting edge jewellery

Instead of our usual Private Views, this season we will be hosting two special Winter Season shopping events and would love for you to join us for mince pies and festive drinks to warm you up whilst you browse our exhibitions.

New Ashgate Gallery gift vouchers make the ideal present for those tricky to buy for or picky to choose for. Let your recipient choose a special painting, a print or a piece of unique craft they really want when they are ready to buy knowing that they will be supporting our unique art and craft talent.

We can also start a wedding gift voucher list. Complimentary cards can be included in your invitations to inform your guest on how they can help to purchase your ideal present.

LUXE

LUMIERE

A curated exhibition of elegant, luxurious and skilfully made objects.

Irresistible hand crafted lighting and illuminated artworks make a wonderful festive statement this season. We explore all facets of lighting where sculpture, colour and form meet.

Nine artists and makers present a selection of exquisitely made artworks, produced in beautiful materials, using intricate, expertly applied techniques, from jewellery to engraved glass, ceramics and wood.

Our intimate Balcony gallery will be full to the rafters with beautiful pieces which can easily fit into home environments. We are careful to note the power of light as a medium in its own right, where light and shade create shadows and the colour and textures of shadow shifting with each piece create physically powerful works that take on the appearance of sculptural forms in space. Visitors are encouraged to move freely around the space to take the lighting pieces in from all angles.

SURREY ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2018

Winner

We are delighted to announce that artist Catherine Warren has been chosen as Surrey Artist of the Year 2018.

Catherine’s work will be available for sale during our winter exhibitions and we are looking forward to a solo show of her work next year.

NEW ASHGATE GALLERY COLLECT AND GIVE ART & CRAFT WITH ‘OWN ART’ The Own Art scheme makes buying art affordable by letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan (rep.0% APR). Own Art loans can be used to cover a group of lower value items whose combined total adds up to £100 or more.

If you are buying something more valuable than £2,500 you can use it as a part payment. You will be able to collect your artwork immediately.

Own Art is an Arts Council England intitative operated by Creative United.

HOW TO FIND US The New Ashgate Gallery is 11 miles Southwest of Guildford, Surrey and is signposted from the A3, A31 and M3.

The competition is a partnership between New Ashgate and Surrey Artists Open Studios to celebrate the wealth of creative talent in Surrey and is supported by the Patricia Baines Trust, Surrey Life magazine and Contemporary Art Fairs.

Becoming a New Ashgate Angel means you will receive priority invitations to events and exhibition previews along with 10% off art and craft purchases for 12 months.

Angels support the vital charity work that the gallery offers in support of developing the careers of emerging makers and artists and provides educational opportunities for just £5 per month.

Parking is available in the pay and display Waggon Road carpark in front of the gallery.

Farnham train station is a five minute walk from the New Ashgate Gallery and just 55 minutes by train from London Waterloo.
