Dancing the Night Away

Page 1

It was a Saturday night, the night I met her, the girl of my dreams. A bunch of my buddies and I decided, earlier in the day, that we wanted to go to a night club. We talked about the various ones in the neighborhood, and decided on going to Red Coconuts, which is a part of the City Walk complex near Universal Studios. We had been there many times before, and we like it because not only could you drink, and dance, but they also had a full menu should you become hungry throughout the night, or you could go to any one of the other restaurants around it. It has two stories with a very small stage that a live band would play all the dance hits, and when they took a break the DJ would come on, and spin mixes of every dance tune available. I spotted her as I walked in the door; she was with a bunch of her friends. The girls were all out on the dance floor, with their purses in a pile in between them. They had their drinks in one hand, and their bodies all moved in a cohesive rhythm. She was wearing a knee length, cobalt blue dress with a pair of black pumps. Her copper red hair was wet with sweat, and her fair skin had a glistening sheen. She never saw me and my friends walk into the club. As I walked over to the bar, I made sure to position myself so I could watch her as she danced. When it was my turn to order my drink, my friend, David, had to nudge me to get my attention. David was known as the pretty boy of the group, with blonde hair and blues eyes the ladies seemed to flock to him whenever we were out. “What are you so enthralled with?” asked David, as he followed my line of sight. “Oh, never mind, which one?” “The one in the cobalt blue dress,” I replied. “Nice choice, this is the first time in a long time that I have seen you show interest in anyone. I was beginning to worry about you, buddy. So, what do you what to drink?” “Oh, um, a vodka and tonic on the rocks,” I replied, still watching the red headed beauty. I watched as she laughed at something one of the other girls said, and the room just lit up. She had a very beautiful smile. Then the music changed, and it must have been the group’s favorite song, because they all screamed, and began to sing as loudly as they could. I smiled to myself as I watched them sing to each other, and crazily dance around. She seemed to be having the time of her life. I watched her as she walked over to the bar with all her friends. They ordered another round of drinks, and asked for a menu. I thought to myself that all their dancing must have given them an appetite.
