Hi, I’m Nyika Suttie (she/her), I’m employed full time by the University as Student Culture and Inclusion Training Officer. Based in Student Policy and Safeguarding, my role is to research, design and deliver relevant, responsive training about anti-harassment, bystander intervention, and equality and diversity.
I am a trained teacher and experienced facilitator, and I am keen to develop creative and physical sessions, as well as sessions bespoke to the needs of student groups and cohorts.
#NeverOK is a joint initiative between the University and the Student Union which spreads the message that harassment, bullying, and sexual misconduct are #NeverOK.
The initiative includes:
Training workshops
Work with night time venues
Awareness-raising events and stalls
Promotion of the Support and Report tool
To get involved with the campaign, or to order posters for your department, email neverok@bath.ac.uk

Covering the reasons why we have unconscious bias, ways in which we can recognise our unconscious bias, and a look into examples of harassment, discrimination, and hate crimes. This training also covers the 4 Ds of bystander intervention with a number of scenario-based activities.
Allyship is the most important way to ensure everybody has access to opportunities and feels included, regardless of their background. It means taking an active stance to end discrimination and harassment. This training session looks at what it takes to be an ally, and how you can use your social and cultural power to raise up others.
1.5 - 2 hours
A workshop all about how to disagree. This training covers confidence skills for debates, how to disagree with dignity and respect, and discussions of “where you draw the line” between free speech and hate speech. This workshop is interactive and discussionbased, and includes a real opportunity for debate at the end (2 hour session only)

Language is powerful, and how we communicate can just as easily exclude as include those we are talking with. This training session considers what language means, and how our communication can create an inclusive environment, particularly when working as part of a group.

You've seen the tea video, but do you really know what counts as a yes? Are you communicating well with your partner(s)?
This workshop, designed in partnership with the 22/23 SU Lacrosse team, and the University of Galway, will answer all the questions you've been too afraid to ask.
What’s the digital intimacy training?
Many people now experience digital intimacy as we explore our sexuality online, but it is important to learn how to do this safely and in a fun way. This workshop will empower students to understand the challenges and benefits of digital intimacy, such as sending nudes safely, how to identify catfishing, and what to do if they experience image based sexual abuse (and why it is called this instead of 'revenge porn').
Great! How long does the training last?
1.5 hours
These sessions bring groups of students together to take part in an activity whilst discussing how harassment is #NeverOK, and how they can be an active bystander.
Challenge-based activities: races, treasure hunts, miniOlympics – use your knowledge of equality and diversity, as well as your game skills, to win
Craft-based activities: Send a postcard against harassment, design a tote bag for women’s rights, origami against homophobia, friendship bracelets for community-creation – the possibilities are nearendless.
